At Idle I like the 056.

Can't comment on the 166 as I've never had one up close, vids sound good though. Something about that Dolmar burble.

Based on what I've heard first hand, my vote goes to the 6800i. Just something about it...

Nothing has the sound of an old big block reed valve poulan.

Yup! My 5200 has an underlying snarl that none of my others saws comes close to.

Best sounding saw I have is my Echo twin. Very unique. It sounds better than it cuts!!

Very unique sound! Very smooth cutter, too .... but cuts slooooow.

One reason I'm lookin' for one ...

The saw I WON'T vote for is my McCurtner PM1000! Sounds like that muffler is stuffed full of blankets!

At idle: Sachs Dolmar 166 hands down.

That would also tend to be my pick in the cut but I'm going to have to give that a little more thought.

Or you could include the 100cc Dolmars as well like the 152/153/ Poulan 6000 at idle as well. . There right there in the mix with the big Poulans and your 166.

Yup,

anyone that's heard Lees' 8 166s has gotta drop their jaw.

But the 152/153s are right there with that crazy lope.

The 166 just sounds mean at idle. When I see one moving all over the ground sitting there at idle it makes me want one real bad.

For a small saw my Jred 2036 with a few more holes in the muffler sounds pretty good too.

Close...you're at least in the right family :msp_thumbup:

I agree. The dual port magnum version is particularly loud and mean. The 056 Mag II definitely gets my vote for best sounding saw.

MM 72cc XP's have a real nice crack to the note @ idle , with a simple hole/screen drilled dead center of the front muff bracket . Reminds me of a nicely cammed BowTie Rat .

Solo Twin for me. Awesome sound...

I love ported Huskys. My 390XP is the best sounding saw I own.

8 cubes sounds good

Don't be silly Wayne. That thing of yours is so loud you don't get the chance to actually "hear" it as it ruptures your eardrums before you get that far...
