Was thinking about selling my 361 for the 462. The 462 is not much heavier and more power of course. How is everyone liking the 462 soo far? Been awhile since I posted on here.

I just picked a 462 up last week, only a tank through it so far. If you have the cash, and you need the power to for it. I always recommend a 70cc saw over a 60 any day every day, the only real downside is the price.

Yeah I have the cash but its a matter of how bad I want it or do I think its worth it lol. I really like the m-tronic saws as my 201tc-m has been great. I feel like my 361 always needs the tune tweaked.

What size bar did you get with yours?

I've been using my for almost 2 years now. My other "big" saws MS661 &Solo681 don't get anymore that much use time. The reason is that the MS462 is lighter and has power.

Good to hear from someone who has owned it for so long and that has many other saws to compare it to.

Yeah I may regret getting rid of it. Its one of those things that can be passed down sort of like a nice firearm or quality furniture.

... wish I had a MS361. Been looking for a good looking one for years now.

You won’t regret the purchase. The 462 is beastly in comparison, with better AV, at about the same wet weight.

Been running mine for over a year. Ran 036's for many years. They just sit on the shelf. My first Mtronic was a 241 then the 462 and last fall the 261. You won't regret the money spent after a half a dozen or so tanks thru it. O and keep the 361 just because.

I wanted a 24" light bar, but all they had on hand was a 28" light so that's what I got, I also have a 20" light at home so will use that sometimes. I have become a fan of the longer bars so you don't have to bend over. Stand up and buck! Lol.

Interesting topic as I'm currently in the exact situation. I've got an extremely nice 361 that I purchased from the original owner that doesn't suit me well for a two saw plan (I already have an 026).....was seriously thinking about trading it towards a 462 but am curious as to the power difference between the 361 vs 462. I prefer more low end grunt than what the 361 provides.

The 462 will give you about 30% more horsepower.... and just over a pound more weight. If you really need torque, the 461 has a little more than the 462. The 661 is a great option! My 462 has replaced my 036's very well! (and I love my 026 and 260!)
The 661 is a much much larger saw than the 462. The 461 out of the box is not that great of a runner IMHO, ported they become a whole new saw, the 462 is zippy from the get go.

I've had my 462 for about 11 months, zero issues. The yarder I cut for has had one as a landing saw for a year, and those derelicts could break an anvil.
So I think that clears up any durability issues regarding the 462.
Great with a lightweight 24". If I need more than that, I have 461's.
