I'm kicking around getting the big bore kit for my 044. The Baileys catalog says it is for models after number X29 382 283 my saw has an x with a circle followed by 136331071 I think I'm ok, I assume they are not considering the first digit (1). Am I correct? And can my saw use the big bore kit?

second for those who are bored can you give me the years of these 3 serial numbers. I tried the stihl site my self with no luck. 230452407 (036 if needed) 136331071 (044) and 161570332 (660).

Thanks and Merry Christmas

I believe they are using the X as a placeholder. So if your 044 is <= _29 382 283 it will have the 10mm piston so you cannot use the big bore. Yours is after that so it should have the 12mm wristpin unless it is an ebay hybrid ;).

Someone should be able to run your serial #'s to get the year in which your saws were made.

Thanks Lake, As always You are the man. I tried to rep ya but it always tells me I need to spread the wealth first. Should I have been able to get that from the site? I tried with no success. I will re check my 044 but I'm pretty sure that is correct because that is the one I was thinking putting The B-Bore on. Have you ever seen one not be in the computer?

The computer records will only show USA manf. or USA sold goods. If yours came in though the back door (Like Canada) it will show as invalid.

136xxxxxx would be around 1997/98

Sigh... He means that if it's a 1 it's German made, and if a 2 it's USA, 3 for Brazil, 5 for Japan...
