Splitting mauls?

I'll add another thumbs up :agree2: for the Fiskars splitting axe, and its flyweight relative the Fiskars chopping axe. I'm 5'10" and don't have a problem with the handle length on either. I do use an oak block to split on. The Fiskars super splitting axe is considerably lighter than a normal maul, and the chopping axe is a flyweight, but both are SHARP! I use the lightweight as much as possible, and use the heavier splitting axe on stubborn stuff. If I can't split it with one of those, I'll make noodles.
 
If you get a maul with a wooden handle, be sure to buy one of these. I had this maul over 25 years with the same handle.
