I have a stihl 064 I think the coil is going out. I pulled the flywheel today and its a 1122 400 1204 the coil is the prufrex 1122 400 1303. I know this was talked about a few months ago but my questions are. is there a replacement coil for the 1303 that works with the 1204 flywheel. Or do I need to replace the coil and flywheel?

thanks scott

I'm not sure what you mean by. Do you cdic on it? And I have just one keyway. I know this was covered in november but I thing someone just sold the guy a matched coil and flywheel. I am just curious if there is a replacement for the 1303 or any other coil that matches up with the 1204 flywheel. It looks like I should have the dogleg coil. the second mount doesn't match up with the mounting hole. it was screwed into the case. If need be I'll replace both coil and flywheel.

thanks for the response

Thanks for the chart I have seen the one for the 064 on this site. I am just confused about the 1204 flywheel. there doesn't seem to be alot of info out there about it.

Thanks again

That chart shows the 1303 coil you have as the rev limiting CDIC coil. The next concern is whether or not you have two keyways in your flywheel. If you do not, you'll have to stick with the CDIC type coil or get a different flywheel. If you get a flywheel with the second keyway, you can through in the very common 0000 400 1300 coil. That's how my saw is setup. If you need a CDIC coil, I have one here.

I just got back from the local stihl dealer and they didn't know much about the 1204 coil. So if I get a 1201 flywheel can I use the 0000 400 1300 coil?

Brad how much for the cdic coil? Do you know the number for the flywheel with 2 keyways?

Thanks Scott

You can have my CDIC coil for $25 shipped if you want it. I'd recommend you go with the 0000 400 1300 coil though. I forget the PN of the flywheel I got. As you've already seen, not all flywheels are listed in that PDF. As long as you get a 064 flywheel with two slots, you're good to go. Install it with the key in the 1 oclock position rather than the 12 oclock position. BTW, a 066 flywheel will not work. They're wider. There are many saws that use the 1300 coil, including the MS290-390. Lots of others too.

thank,s Guy,s I just bought a 064 and the coil looks bad. the used duck tap on the coil wire . they must not know duct tape is a conductor. LOL any way I have the 1311 EY-E is that bad or good??? will any other work for me or do I need the fly wheel too?? hope I can find a 1311 ey-y will the standard one work. it said it has a red eye is that just some one using a 660 plastic gas tank on the o64? seems real nice except for the duct tape that was crazy. if anyone can sell me one i would be very grateful thanks for the info I got . thanks for your time . BILL :taped:

This seems to be an endless source of questions, the 11 different flywheels and ignitions Stihl used on the 064/066/MS-660.

Scott, if you have the 1122 400 1204 flywheel, it is only compatible with the 1122 400 1303 coil, which is the rev-limiter.

If the mounts don't line up, then you are correct, you need the dog-leg coil, which is part number 1122 400 1300. It is not the same coil as 0000 400 1300, because the mounts are different. The flywheels compatible with the 1122 400 1300 coil are 1122 400 1201 and 1122 400 1203 (use slot 'P'). There is an arctic flywheel that is compatible, 1122 400 1207, but those are rare.

The flywheels compatible with the 1122 400 1300 coil are also compatible with the 0000 400 1300 coil, but again, the mounts are different. Some replacement case halves had both sets of mounts so you could use any of the coils available for the 064.

I think I have an extra 1201 flywheel if you need it, and then you could fine the dog-leg coil.

Bill- the 1122 400 1311 coil is not a rev-limited coil nor is it for the red-light saws (there's no hook-up for the LED on that coil.)

You can swap out the 0000 400 1300 universal coil for your 1122 400 1311 coil and the timing is the same (without changing your flywheel.) The 1311 coil has a timing curve which is retarded at low RPM for easier starting. The 1311 coil was unreliable and had a short service life.

thanks for that I pick it up at a auction for $200.00 and the coil must have went quick the saw is in very good shape for it,s age I must be the later model closer to the 90,s do you know when they stopped making the 064?

Brad thanks for the offer but I will go with your suggestion on the two keyway flywheel and the 1300 coil. I found one listed on ebay. He listed it as 066 and 064. He also has the arctic which is obviously thicker. I asked him to give me the thickness measurement before I buy.

Thanks for the help.

I think I may be going that route I'm just waiting on a ebay response on a 2 keyway flywheel. That way I'll have both bases covered If not It will probably be what you are suggesting with the 1201 and dogleg coil.

Thanks for the help.

I realize this is an old thread but i just picked up am 064 that was dropped somehow and 5 of the fins on my 1122-400-1201 flywheel are broke off....is there any other wheel thatll work with the existing coil or does anyone have a good 1201 flywheel they wanna sell?

Digging up a old thread to see if I can figure out a 066. It looks like the chart link is now lost. If anyone has that saved it would be great to repost it.

In any event I am working on a late model round top 66. It has a poly flywheel. It has a three screw mount coil. It is marked 1122-1312 This saw has no spark. The other 660's I have had had two screw mount coils that are marked 1122-1314 I am wondering if someone has installed the wrong coil
