Where you have the homelite to get you out af a pinch your probably better off upgrading the clutch over to a rim style type w/ the large bearing. Then you be able to make a choice between running either the 7 pin or 8 pin rim sprocket depending on the size & type of wood. No need to purchase the cage ,springs or the shoes just the outer assy. Then if you havent done so allready perform a muffler mod , gut out the inside but retain the 3 tubes to prevent the front from being crushed & turn up the fuel delivery on the mixture screws. Heres a pic of the mod I performed on my friends 310. 3/8" hole out the front seems to be perfect . Wire feed welded back up. Check for pin holes you dont want any. Being its a new saw under warranty its probably better to wait untill it goes off though
