I have a MS 250 Stihl and really like it except for one thing. The darn thing kicks every time I start it. I have had it in the shop and changed plugs and settings, but doesn't help. It cuts great and runs smooth after it is cranked. My question, is this stubborn kick normal; am I going to burn it up because of timing.

I wish somebody would give ya an answer Dingo. Ive got an almost new 290 that Ive suspected was kicking back for some time now not everytime tho. Once in awhile it will jerk the rope out of my hand. Mabe if you moved it to the chainsaw thread???

Thanks for the comeback, furbar. I use the 250 everyday and it cuts great. My dad bought it new. It kicked him and ripped the rope out of his hand so much he gave it to me instead of beating it with a splitting mall. He is 81 years young and is still cutting evry day he can. I figure I'll start it or rip the side off.:bang:
