Here is my latest incarnation of a 441 muffler.

The tubing is closet rod from Lowes. Brazing thick to thin metal takes some practice, but enough is written about it on line, the technique is called "Tinning". You preheat and apply bronze to both parts, clamp together; reheat the thicker parts and cause the bronze to flow blending the joint together. Could be done with Mapp gas or a cheap propane and oxygen torch.

GEEZE :msp_ohmy: that opening is HUGE One of those pipes would have been perfect. You might have a problem getting the saw to idle correct.

Well its different, and interesting. Let us know how it runs afterwards, as that is the largest holes I've seen in a 441's muffler, I will say we have better and better power the larger and larger the holes got, but we never made them that big, LOL.

Let us know how it goes,

Sam

I have been working on my 441 project for about 2 years now, you would not recognize the inside of the jug. This saw cuts so well now. Your right about the size a stock saw or even a mild port might be happier with one port.

Here is a Jonsered/Husqvarna version.

I can see them in your album

Is this good or bad?

Lets see it cut.

So far its the best saw I have used, The pipe is not as large as it looks and I inserted it into the muffler about an inch so there is a fair amount of length. I think the length may contribute to lowering the sound and maybe a little reverse presure wave.

You guy's just have to have video...

I will make one soon, but the point of the post was to show how muffler ports can be made into any configuration with basic tools and a little brazing.
