my stihl 390 is 2 1/2 years old. the saw seized up. i took it to the dealer who stated it was a lack of oil issue after he stripped the saw apart. i had a second opinion from a knowledgeable small engine mechanic. he stated the center bearing seized up and cracked the crank but there was no scoring on the cylinder walls and piston looks fine. he feels it was not a lack of oil issue and the bearing may have been bad. i am still talking with a stihl rep but don't think they will replace the parts for free and want 200.00 dollars for the crank/bearing. i was not using stihl oil but know how to mix gas/oil and have been cutting firewood for over 10 years. any opinions? also should i scrap the saw and sell for parts or could i find the above "used" crank/bearing cheaper than new?

I have a good crank with bearings already on the ends. PM me your email and I'll send you a pic.
