I've come across two 272xp huskies this week..both of which are now mine. After taking the muffler off to inspect the piston on both saws, neither have a gasket...from
Out to in it goes muffler, heat shield, cylinder. Is this correct? On the ipls from husky I don't see a gasket, but they're commonly available for the 272. Maybe it depends on the year? What do you think...do I need a gasket?

Most of my saws don't have gaskets. I don't think it's as important of the exhaust side like the intake side but not positive. Pretty sure my husky doesn't have one along with the poulan pro. The older poulans have gaskets. I don't think the stihl has one.
