ok on my little 142 theres a small plate covering the holes in the muffler. whats it for? i took it off to see what was behind it. my 455 just has 3 holes in it and no plate covering them. sorry for the idiot question but i gotta learn somehow:) :chainsaw: , Mike

The plate covers the holes that have the bolts holding the muffler to the cylinder in them. Torx head bolts in case you want to take the muffler off.

and your 455 does not breath out of the three holes at the front. just a tiny one on the top
