What's your opinion on the Stihl flippy caps

[And apologies in advance to the guys who let flippy caps drive them away from Stihl, but that's kinda like divorcing your wife because she changed her hair style and you don't like the way your fingers run through her hair now. There are a lot of more important, uh, assets, that my wife and my saws have than hair style and flippy caps. Honestly. :monkey:[/QUOTE]

Positively no apology needed, I like the new Kita's and Dolmar just fine. Matter of fact I might even buy the Kita-Dolmar even if Stihl did away with the flippy.

I don't like them. I think they are a classic example of fixing something that wasn't broken.

It wouldn't keep me from buying a Stihl. Out of all the OPE that I have, the flippy caps are my least favorite.

I never had to use a wrench with my husky screw ons. Never had one leak or fail. It's simply a superior design.

Superior design to the flippy, maybe, but not the old style Stihl screw cap. I've replaced more of the Husky caps than Stihl. There was definitely more meat to the Stihl caps. Alas, no more. Of course I'll admit that most of the broken Husky caps I've dealt with was ham-fisted operator error. Very easy to snap off part of those caps with a scwrench.:censored:

I've had a Stihl saw with them. I liked them at first until the first one broke. Then the second one. Sold the saw. Decent idea but poor follow through.

But then there is air filtration issues and vibration <a href="http://www.sweetim.com/s.asp?im=gen&lpver=3&ref=11" target="_blank"><img src="http://content.sweetim.com/sim/cpie/emoticons/00020473.gif" border="0" title="Click to get more." ></a>

Sorry - WRONG answer. Kita's & Dolmars are BETTER than the Stihl in the vibe dept and I have seen 0 difference in air filter maintenance. PLUS on the larger saws, 6400 and up there is a kit available that should put ANY questions on air filtration to bed. I do not know if such a kit is available for the Stihl.

I have never had to change a husky"cap to date. The old screw in stihl was not as good because they had neglected to put a half cent of plastic on them for thumb grips:dizzy:I did like em better that the rubix cubes they sell today though.

And all this wealth of knowledge from a husky guy that states stihl sucks in his signature.

Look dude, I have both brands of saws so I can be pretty objective. Do you own both brands or are you offering armchair OPINIONS?

If you read my signature you would see it says stihl blows lol. You would also see two stihls one runs both less than a year run time and a br 600 blower"stihl blows":monkey:

That's fine, in Tommy's nice clean shop, with his immaculately manicured paws and a pristine saw. I want to see one of him doing that in the woods, after cutting all day, dehydrated, hatin' life, tired, saw caked w/saw chips/dirt, with some Haggard playing on the old 8-track....

Lol would that by chance be big city?

This one's better...
