Needed to do some welding. So instead of taking the stuff to work and having to use the mig at work. I picked this up today.

I've been lusting after a Tig Machine for years. So I finally bit the bullet and got one. A few saws are going to have to be sold to pay for it though!! Anybody need any saws? LOL

You... Suck... Forget saws, I'd almost sell a kidney for a real nice TIG setup like that. At least I know who to call when I need some magnesium parts fixed up now!

ha ha ha. I figured I'd get a response like that!! LOL. Yup I had fixing mag stuff up in mind too!! Do some nice jobs on muffler mods. Once I get it figured out I don't mind doing some paying jobs, nominal fee anyway.

No gas with it. I actually just got back from picking one up.

Specs? Hmmm, well, I'm new to Tigs, but its a Lincoln Precision 185

5-185 amps, awesome range, 5 amps if you feel the need to weld pop cans together LOL.

Its got a built in Pulser.

Adjustable post flow control.

Foot petal control.

Auto AC balance.

It also does stick welding as well. I'm sure there is more? But I don't know.

You can read about it here. http://www.tig185.com/

Will,

Look for a used water cooler and torch, you won't regret it. Here's Lincoln's part number for their torch, and their cooler as well. There are other brands that will work too I'm sure.

TIG-Mate 20 TIG Torch Starter Kit (water-cooled) K2267-1
Cool-Arc 40 Water Cooler 115v K1813-1

Watch some of the TIG videos here, they will help you with your technique.

He's got a lot of good videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-mnZ2oyCxM

Thanks man. I blew my wad so far on the purchase of the machine, so not going to add anything more right now. Maybe later on. Do you think its worth it seeing that I don't do allot of welding.

Tools

I just bought a house so I will finally be able to get both my grandfathers awesome tools. My dad already has his own so I'm getting most of them. Including a wissota grinder, Delta table saw, big old vise, 5 speed drill press (old school will get brand) radial arm saw (same as drill press also an old cast iron sears band saw (bench size). If that's not cool enough it gets better! The company I work for just bought out another company. So we (my boss and another guy) have been dismantling and trucking out their maintenece dept. My boss has doubles and triples of their tools so he took some stuff and let me and Deano (other maint. Guy) have our pick! Deano also has a ton of tools so he took a few things and I got a lot: 2 jig saws, Black and decker hammer drill (not the junkthey sell now) 2 pipe wrenches 12" and 24", new Tube flaring set, new torch head, greenline multimeter, voltage tester, new lawman and bosch drill bits (5-6) half missing craftsman socket set, a few snap on sockets, extensions and combi wrench, snap on soldering iron and a good size Homak tool chest! Will post pics soon.

Then I got all this stuff. Guy was a boat builder, all brass and stainless screws, copper nails, brass bolts....real cheap. Don't know what I will ever do with it ,but it's cool stuff.

No saws came home. Passed on a blue super e-z for $50. Guy told me it was cheap, it was a classic. Yes, it and the other 9 million they made.

Saw a 240 homelite too, but I am pretty sure it was hot.

need a tool

I need a needle adjustment tool for the newer zama carbs. On ebay they are about $12-$14 by the time you pay shipping. Just wondering if that is the best deal ? Do any of the sponsers on this site have them ?

Good question. I would be interested in one for the Walbro carbs as well. Could be offered as a set.
