just got some black cherry from a local tree service. split it over the weekend. i am very excited and looking forward to burning it next season. never burned it before, but heard it smells nice. i saved chips for smoking on the bbq. wound up being half a cord.

MMMmm

I LOVE cherry. It smells so nice to me. not the heat of oak or locust but the smell makes up for it! sounds like a nice wood source to have! good luck!

Nice score! Almost all fruit wood is excellent for all the same reasons. I have many old apples around the property. They are good and hard, smell great but are a real pain due too the limbiness! Other than that, I usually save some some for the open fireplace on holidays. It crackles and smells nice.

Nice stack of wood there, cherry is nice, expecially on more humid days, walk past the stack, sniiifff, ahhh. Looks like you use the tire for holding splitting material huh.

yes, i use the tire when splitting. saves me a lot of bending b/c most of the splits remain in the tire. the wood has a decnet aroma now, can't wait to burn it!

I get a fair amount of black cherry around here out of fence rows. Eventually they grow too big and the farmers can't get their equipment around them.

Isn't it great walking past a fresh wood pile, taking a whiff, and recognizing the species?

pa. woodsman, yes, that's the garage. i have a bit to clean out before i can put some wood in there. in the meantime, the wood is outside getting some sun and wind. once it starts to warm up i will move it in. and i am sure it will smell nice in the garage :)

stack it brackets. i use them too and also got my hands on about a half cord of cherry last year. Great wood, burns hot

Great Score!

And to think the tree company brought it to you. Nice.

I had a cherry cut down and burned it a couple of years ago.

You will definitely love the way it smells when burned.
