valuation of ca 1978 Partner P70 chainsaw - one owner, non commercial use

If anyone of the Partner experts could help me out on what value you would put on this chainsaw ?

it is a one owner, "never used commercially" Partner P70 with original manual and parts as shown.

I recently replaced the fuel tank with a good used one since i buggered up the threads,
but other than that it is exactly how it came off the shelf ca. 1978.
The receipt used to be in the back of the owners manual but of course has since disappeared.
no rebuilds, no modifications, nothing.
runs like the day it came off the shelf - even though it is not as pretty as a new one....

Would like to know what you guys think it is worth.

I think the poster was indicating it wasn't used "commercially".

Why? If it was originally a chainbrake equipped saw and the chainbrake is missing then I would agree but seems lots of US models didnt come equipped with a brake far as what I have seen.

I got one in the same condition from the original owner with all the same factory tools etc. Nice saws...

I would guess $300 Max for 70cc.

I passed on a 1 owner 65cc version with paperwork etc and just light homeowner use for $200.

I was not aware the p70 did not come with a chain brake assembly. If the p70 did come with a chain brake and In general my comment stands.............:msp_tongue:

I like my P 7000. With a mild port job and muffler mod on it , it runs almost as hard as my 272 with the same level of porting. Mine never had a chainbrake, but the cover casting has a portion that could be removed for the chainbrake. It was like the factory preparing for the future by making the casting easily modified for a chainbrake when that time came. I paid 75 bucks for mine, but it needed a pull cord job. 200 to 300 would be the ballpark figure if I was to sell mine.

probably an option. there was alot of that going on back then.

I think it depends on when and where they were sold. My P70 does not have a chainbrake and since I got it from the original owner I know first hand it never had one.

Mine was sold on the east US coast in 1982 and the original sales receipt shows it was $385 out the door with a spare chain and grease gun.

If that saw was sold in Canada at that time I'm certain that it would have certainly had a chainbrake as that country made it mandatory then. I know that's the way it was with Poulans at that time.

I bought a new P70-Plus in 83, it had a chain break, the chain guard and chain break were one piece.
It was a very dependable saw, ran it many yrs, full time logging

I forgot that my saw was sold in Wisconsin and the owner took it with him when he moved to the south east.....
