At the same time I picked up the banner (post 612), I picked up this (obviously home made) gasket display.

The paper was in very bad shape too.

A local print shop can laminate 24" wide material (these are 22") and the did a pretty nice job of keeping the pieces in shape as they ran them through.

I'll add a few gaskets here and there to add to the realism.

Looks good. How is the snow there north of Waterloo? The wind twisted my antennae again so I cannot get channels 2 and 9. I have not gotten channel 7 after Obama axed analog TV.

No snow yet anyway. It was 50 degrees and calm this afternoon, very windy tonight as the cold front is moving in.

Good day to work in the shop tomorrow.

I have some additional parts to get cleaned up and put away. There are a few more NOS parts hidden here and there as well.

I am working on my chain display, these will eventually get mounted on a board and go up on the wall in the front room for all to see. If anyone out there has a piece of 5/8 pitch chain, 3/8 skip, 3/8 semi-skip, 404 semi-skip, or (laf laf) straddle scratcher chain I'd like to get a piece with two RH and two LH cutters. I have two or three loops of scratcher available, I just need to decide which one(s) I want to break apart for display purposes.

I have some 7/8" pitch (with forged chisel cutters) and 3/4" harvester chain, several examples of 9/16" pitch, 12 or so different 1/2" pitch, and plenty of others.

I am intrigued by this loop of Pioneer chain, (bottom loop, I know the upper one is Stihl carbide) bigger than 1/4" pitch but smaller than .325...did Pioneer also experiment with .315" pitch?

Have you reached out to any of the other chainsaw museums? Since you are only asking for a few links, they might have small pieces to share.

You guys might be able to swap a number of things.

Heck, I would even contact Oregon and ask them directly for stuff. Once they know what you are doing, and how far you have come, they might other stuff for you as well.

Thanks Mark, I can set you up with 350 (.354 / .050), 358 (.354 / .058) and Carlton J1 (.354 / .050). I can send a piece of the oddball Pioneer as well.

Phil, the only other museum I know of is Wayne Sutton, I will try to send him a message, thanks for the suggestion.

We broke one of the scratcher loops today and put it in the Metal Prep to get a head start on the rust. I'll put up some photos of the rivets and joiner in a day or two.

Mark & Ron Hosky gave me this 08S a while back, I decided it was time to get it cleaned up and moved into the display. These are a remarkably simple design and actually very easy to work on. They are equipped with an air vane governor that closes the choke if the engine overspeeds.

Maybe in the US?

You guys need to form an International Association of Chainsaw Museums (will work on a better acronym: ‘Chainsaw Hoarders Association INternational’? More options if we use foreign names like ‘Kettensage’) to swap parts, share conservation practices, and have traveling exhibits, like that stuff from Picasso, King Tut, etc.

Mark, do you have any of this type of chain in your collection? This is the first I have seen of this type. I got it from an old saw dealer that is no longer with us. If you want it I will send it to you.i have no idea who made it or what it is called. The only markings on it is a 50 stamped in the drivers
