i like to do firewood with the shittiest saw i own at the time. mostly to save the nice ones for my job. i especially like making use of something someone else through out in the scrap. this year it's a stihl 460. not to say a 460 is ******, it's just the shittiest i have this year. did 6 cords for my grandfather with it so far. taking it easy this year.

I have two I use for firewood, both Husqvarna. I have 272XP with a 24" bar that I purchased used, and a 550XP with a 20" bar that I bought new.

I haven't had the 550 long enough to tell for sure when I'll use which saw, other than the obvious that I'll use the 272 for felling the bigger trees. The reality is the 550 will handle most of what I cut though.

I started trading, getting, buying all kinds of saws in need of repair this year and fixing them and getting them running to sell or trade for more saws. In the process I end up "trying out" quite a few saws to make sure carb settings are correct and the saw operates as it should. This year I ended up pretty much cutting all my wood for the winter using about 20 different saws. My main 2 saws didn't cut a lick of wood. So I got all my wood cut, made a few extra dollars, and ended up with a lot of saws to work on this year. Life is good!
