I planted an American Sentry Linden a couple years ago in my front yard, where I was hoping it would develop a nice aesthetic. This winter, snow covered the lower 2/3 of the tree, but not the top. I believe the bitter cold caused the uncovered portion to die off, as seen in the photo. If the tree is allowed to continue to grow in this location, what chances will it have for a normal crown and growth pattern? Given this is in the front yard and I'd like to have the best appearance, should I transplant this damaged tree somewhere else and plant a new tree?
