What is this wood?

I was thinking pine for the longest time but after reading the wood ID thread I'm starting to think it might be cherry. What does everyone else think?

Cherry indeed. The bark (log) does look similar to pine/spruce though.

Thats definatly Black Cherry with it's scaley potatoe chip bark and dark red color heartwood. Doesn't Red oaks have a smoother bark, kinda like Pin oaks?
