Looks like ash Unk.i just split some that looked dark like that from being damp and almost past it's prime.

Yup or Gumwood. Split a piece and if its easy its Ash , stringy its Gum.

Is that an old green ash? If it splits like ash but is not that great for firewood then its green ash. If its not ash then its something that we dont have here in Canada
