what makes good 2 stroke oil good?

Might be more fuel related than oil. According to some of the finest builders here. I've seen the results of our (n mich) pump gas and super tech tcw3 in 8 - 27 year old saws. Piston tops are black with arrow still visible and .005 - .010" carbon layer in the exhaust port. Not too bad for buying a new saw every 2 years from money saved on buying fancy oil.
You can buy the correct type of oil for the same price as supertech..

This gas now a day wrecks so many things. It sure keeps small engine shops in business.
Yea I don't know yet if it's the gas or what. Not sure. I have an old 51 I bought new in the early 90's. Never been touched. Still runs fine on original everything. Never had the cylinder cover off. Always run on pump gas and tcw3. Maybe the tcw3 preserves the pump gas and prevents it from softening the rubber where semi and synthetics dont? Or the synthetics are what is eating them. Or pure luck on my part. Idk.
