What type of tree is this?

I'm clearing a lot for my father in law and ran across this tree. I havn't seen any others around here and its got me stumped. I did a couple leaf charts and it's close to black gum but I don't know.
I grabbed a twig today and snapped a pic. The bark almost looks like an elm, but a little thicker and less crappy, and the leaves are very glossy and not toothed. Leaves are alternate....
It's branches seem to sag as they grow bigger, i had to trim it up about 30 feet.

Well after this intense debate I think I'm settling on the Black Gum, everything seems to be leading to it. Honestly I've never heard of it before.
