When is the Best time to cut and split firewood?

Cut when the trees have no leaves. Less hassle.

If you have to move it, cut when the ground is covered in snow, or at least frozen. I also find that splitting frozen green wood is easiest (I split by hand).

Give it at least a year to season, you're better off giving it two years. I cut in the middle of winter, and burn it two winters later.
 
I like it when the ground is frozen or colder . The saws seem to run better . I really get drawn into the woods in the winter . May sound crazy but the woods are majestic in the winter .
 
I like it colder but don't like messing around in the snow. Even though I enjoy the snow.
