Last time I was in the Philippines, I watch 4 guys make a canoe out of a big log. No power equipment, but chisels and mallets to hollow out the interior of a big ass log. I didn't see the end results, but it has been 8 years since I saw this, and I bet they are still using it, and catching plenty of fish with it.
