interesting you should ask.... Crummy | Define Crummy at Dictionary.com scroll down to the last definition...

You're conjuring a strong image of a tourist in flip flops and bermuda shorts, thumbing through his translation dictionary trying to educate the locals.

It don't really matter to most folks how you say what you say, so long as you're not a douche about it.

Ain't never seen no "Chainsaw Harder" in my life, much less used one. What's it do?
You must have never heard of Viagra-Saw...
Mostly used for older saws...but really does the trick..!!
Makes 'em run SUPER strong...and...for a LONG time..!!!

NOTE: If your chainsaw runs STRONG for more than 4 hours...
Consult your dealer..!!

Well it seems to matter a great deal to some of the people in this thread.... I asked a pretty simple question and all the loggers got all up in arms about it. As if I personally offended them by asking it. THAT seems pretty douche like to me...

Boy it sure was nice of you to leave out the part where I was being perfectly civil yet repeatedly called an idiot.....d-baggery indeed

don't mention it, guess he saw through your 'civility' quick like (a quality of other old loggers I know). now I gotta abate my own idiotic leanings and not bother with this anymore. Why are you still?

You're right... I should just abandon my own thread.... seems to be full of pricks anyway.... maybe Ill just abandon the site entirely. That way all the old loggers can go back to discussing their favorite rot-gut, and reminiscing about how many trees they cut down in their prime as if they are some semi-modern day Paul Bunyan. Some of you like to complain that this site is overrun by the inexperienced, and ignorant. In my short time here Ive been treated fairly by those same people you complain about, all the while some "old pro" was there to run his mouth and bring any admiration for the loggers of old to a screeching halt. I frequent a few other online forums and never have I seen a bigger collection of people unwilling to deal with new members. So I think I might take my leave...and for all you old pros... I hope you enjoy sitting around and stroking each others egos.

We were all new here once and had to go through this a little bit, almost a right of passage. I look up to those old "semi-modern day Paul Bunyons" because without them and their kind I would be living in a house built out of air and heating it with dreams. Randy may have started by correcting you on the use of your words but you had to escalate it by persisting with talk of dictionaries and all that nonsense, earning you the title of idiot. If you come to a place like this where there a lot of old timers lurking then you should know they might be blunt, it is part of being on a forum like this. If you can't deal with it then please do us all the pleasure of staying the hell out of here.

We don't much care if you admire us or not. We sure as hell don't care if you like us. If you're such a sensitive little butter-cup that any kind of criticism sends you off into some kind of hysterical rage and you defend yourself with whining and book references...well, maybe you'd be better off someplace else.

But if you go you're the only one who'll suffer. There's a wealth of knowledge and information available here and it's here for the asking. The majority of people on AS will go out of their way to answer your questions and help you any way they can. If you turn your back and walk away from the kind of things you can learn here it's your loss.

Some of us may not have the people skills, civility, and tact that you seem to require. Too bad. Learn to deal with it because we're not likely to change. If we're blunt, at least our meaning is clear.

So...go off somewhere and sulk...or stick around, grow a little hide, and learn something. Your choice entirely.

Dictionary, schmictionary. You just have to speak very loudly and very slowly. If that doesn't work, try increasing the volume, affecting an accent, and stop using articles.

the hell of it is, most of you boys pizzin' on each other's boots would prolly drank a sudz together if'n you run into each other at the saw shop.

hell you can call me a SOB so long as you got a smile on yore face. . . . .

that's the problem with the internet . . . . . I cain't see if yore SMILIN' :hmm3grin2orange:

I was alway's taught respect for my elder's, pretty much after I quit shiating my diaper's. A long time ago certainly wouldn't be calling someone old, and washed up. Especially somebody who has earned there place. If it come to running a saw between dictionary boy or Randy. I would bet on Randy.

The reception that you received was commensurate with the responses you provided. I suspect that in the other forums new members showed respect for the older and more knowledgeable ones and did not resort to name calling when their fragile egos were hurt.

If you are a troll, then find another bridge to lurk under. If you came here to learn about saws then you need to make that the focus of your dialogue. If you came to argue semantics, grammar and etiquette take a hike as I have those areas covered.

Just remember, you will be treated here (or anywhere for that matter) the same way that you treat others.

What a thread, some folks are quick studies and other's just can't take a hint or a swift kick.lol

Imho chainsaw milling is the toughest on a saw, with the constant full load for extended periods of time, it certainly gets the operating temps up, lots of stress on the rotating assembly, combined with the dirty conditions. It's just tough on saws period.

I think it is a toss up between a commercial firewood operation and a pro faller/logging operation. In my case I think my saws run more hours a day and make more cuts per day than the fallers saw, but they don't take the abuse of being packed around in the timber and thrown around and hauled on equipment. In both cases we run sharp chain. I take excellent care of my saws, as far as daily maint goes.

The average homeowner firewood hack is prolly tougher on a saw than we are even though our saws are run and cut many times the wood that harry homeowner will cut. He runs dull chains, dogging out the saw all the time, he never maintains his saw, the saw gets the cheapest mix he can buy run through it. Stale fuel as well. He runs whatever he can buy the cheapest for bar oil, even used motor oil. Never changes a plug or cleans an air filter, just runs them until it dies. Doesn't know how to tune a saw, runs them lean. So milling is hardest then prolly harry the homeowner imho.
