Will malloff using chisel chain?

Just noticed this reading that he uses square chisel chain, is it better or something done in the 80's

If it's square ground, yes, it is faster, but apparently a lot harder to learn to file/grind. I've never run it before myself.

I just tried my first square chisel loop and it is impressive. But it looked like it took a 4/8 kerf.

Square Chisel cuts at amazing speed in clean wood. My father used to use it exclusively for felling. It takes a while to learn to hand file it, and if you try to cut in dirty wood, or if your prone to grounding your bar then you can plan on filing it a lot.

don't remember how he was grinding,i just didn't think anybody used Full chisel chain.

Id be using it except that my 62 came set up for 325, and I can only find Square grind in 3/8. It just a matter of changing the rim, but on a brand new saw, I decided to wait till the rim was beat up before I changed it over. Then it will be my square chisel saw, unless I acquire a big boy before then.
