Hello all!
I have a saw that would start and work. Now It starts and the chain has a hard time moving. It will cut but only at really high RPM. I took the clutch off to look at the needle bearing. Every thing looked good except the sprocket/clutch cup. Big grove in it. I will replace it anyhow but my question is if this is the source of my despair? (and should I replace the chain at the same time?). Will a badly worn sprocket cause the chain difficulties in turning?
Thanks
M

Also make sure the bar roller sprocket (if it has one) turns freely as this can keep the chain from turning.

Run it with the bar off, to check your oiler. Dry chains are hard to turn on dry bars.

Doubtfull, but by chance, your not running a .063 gauge chain on a .050 guage bar?

This one caused the saw to acted like the chain brake was on.
