This is one I've never seen before, and pretty clever and cheap to build. So does anyone see any safety issues involved here?

Well, facebook lets me watch vids even when I'm not logged in. When you click on the link you'll first get a popup screen suggesting you login - just click the x somewhere and the popup goes away and the vid should load - at least that's what happens when I do it.

I seen several versions, some pretty big. The big ones chop reasonable sized wood but produce mostly very small splits. They seem to fall apart as the knife cuts through them.

Harry, the bigger ones have a splitter wedge inside the drum that splits the round as it does the final slice.

Love my one long time in small wood. Dryer the logs/branches, the more scrap/trash is produced and needs to be screened out.

The shear type make A TON of waste... like 3-4 wheelbarrow loads per cord. Forget it on dry or frozen wood, just ruins the wood.
Can see all the junk it makes in that video. Sure a stove doesn't care, but customers do.

Guy around here had a "chomper" it was sold after just a dozen or two cords.

I didn't pay attention to whee that video was. I spent 6 years (2 tours) in Germany. The firewood was mostly small gauge thinnings from forests. People would buy a load then a splitter and opertor would come around and split it.

Not a big fan of machines that only split half the length of the stick.
