The 2 craftsman are in the poulan"micro" family. If they had E-10 in them, the fuel lines, carb kit and the crankcases oiler check valve assy behind the clutch are often dead. Nice saws when maintenance is kept up and you avoid e-10 like the plague. Chain oiler check valves are almost unobtanium and often require custom rebuilds.
Thanks for the info DynoDave. I just got two more of those. One of them said Skil on it. But it's the same. Hey you got a spare coil for a Mac 3200?

Wondering why this 2017 thread does not take the place of the 2016 sticky thread??????

Freebe from BIL checking out the metal pile at the town transfer station and 2 from a friend.
Starting from rear then L-R: McCulloch 15, poulan 2150, ?John Deer 2BV blower, Homelite 150, Poulan 31, craftsman&poulan ES300,
2 Eager Beaver2.0, McCulloch RC2.1 (MAC 3516), Husqvarna 41, Shindaiwa 450. Not in pix later type Tecumseh 5hp horizontal shaft.
Everything seems to have compression. Homelite 150 and 1 of the McCulloch EB .20 run... Will eventually be adding them to my photo albums.

Thanks

Working my way through the bunch and the last one...poulan 31 does not have compression
Seized and mud dauber nest in the exh port. Cleaned the nest out to find piston scored :dumb:
Nice looking complete saw, 18" hard nose bar and chain otherwise.
Got the IPL from Ray Benson(thanks)

Do you have a photo of the crankcase oiler check valve? What does this do?

thanks to modifiedmark on the poulan sticky

This check valve passes crankcase impulse to the oil tank to pressurize the oil tank.
if it is killed by e-10, it allows oil leak oil back into the engine for killer smoke and of course NO oiling of the chain.
You usually must micro engineer a new duck bill into the holder, these are NLA... never throw the old one away... instead, send them to me....

So if no oiling, then this is the problem. Well unless it is plugged up.

I picked this 034 up off the side of the road. Put a new piston and cylinder on it. As well as a few other unnecessary new parts to clean it up and make it look new again.
It was in one piece when I picked it up. I just didn't think to take pictures before I pulled it apart. I was too excited.

I was working in a small engine repair shop. I asked my employer if I could make a 288xp with stuff from the shop (used) and he approved. I couldn't found a 54mm oem p/c so I decided to use meteor. Luckily I found oem 52mm p/c (281xp) in great condition. The saw costed me about 20€ for a caber ring and a carb kit (please excuse my English if I have mistakes)

The price was definitely good!

Stihl 045 AV with 20” ES bar/chain; starts and runs although I believe it needs the condenser replaced, simply needed to be cleaned up. Seems to oil a bit slow. Bar needs nose sprocket. $20

Stihl 041 AV FB with 20” hard nose bar and chain; not running, needs A LOT of love. $20

Stihl 041 FB with 20” hardnose bar and 2 chains; runs but not picking up fuel properly, needs love. $20

Stihl MS211C-BE with 16” bar and chain; broken pull cord, end pulled off spark plug wire. 10 minutes of work and runs like a champ. $20

Stihl MS210C with 16” bar and chain; bad piston, scored cyl. Torn down waiting on parts from Huztl (going to 250 p/c with a little port work, muffler mod and Walbro carb). After talking with local Stihl dealer about repairing the older saws he gave this to me to practice on. Free

Jonsered 2065 Turbo with 20” bar and chain. Bad coil (its all sorts of distorted and messed up), crack in bottom of handle (repaired with poured in epoxy), needed pull cord. Saw was dirty as hell and had been run hard and put away dirty, all of its life. $20

Pics will be coming.

I need another 50cc saw like I need a divorce, but for $35 how could I walk away from a classic Husky 51. Compression is ~165 psi, good spark, and looked to been left in a shed for years. Cleaned it up, dumped out the old fuel and added fresh fuel with a dash of Seafoam. It sort of runs, but it likely it has carb issues associated from its prolonged storage. In the cart with the Husky was an old, dirty Stihl 041 with a rusty bar and the starter cover removed. The 041 had a $19.95 price tag, but didn't have a need for a vintage parts saw.

D61DAD40-7188-4D15-84CA-ABB326E807BD.jpeg Not as good as others but not bad. Guy had it for a month, never owned a saw before AND he’s dumber than me when it comes to saws. He stated it wouldn’t run or cut right, he was going to buy another brand, it’s a Jred 2255. I gave him $175. Cleaned it , set correct chain tension after I sharpened it, I think he was planting garlic with it. Pulled muffler, clean. Dumped his gas and added mine, started 3rd pull. Retuned his “carb adjustment”. Runs great.

Lol just found the "You Suck" thread.. no wonder I was getting you suck comments in my thread. I'll wear them as a badge of honor now. :D

Scored this on Craigslist for $50. The guy said he just didnt need it taking up room in his garage.

Seems to run pretty well, needs a chain, the bar needed some work, AV mounts are shot, C-clip exploded into 3 pieces taking it off to check the drive & clutch, needed some cleaning. It'll get a new spark plug just because and I'll probably replace the fuel lines & filter, carb rehab, air gasket... basically all the rubber pieces.

Now I dont know if I suck... but... i have an item for sale in FB marketplace i need to delete. I go to do and a Stihl saw pops up at the top of list. Its an 066! Looks decent, 36 and 25 bars with chains. It wont start. Listed for 600, 30 miles from me. I message the guy to talk about it " dont know why it wont start, i put gas in it and cant get it started, too much saw for me". i offer 400.. he says 5, i say 450 i come now. He says ok but not lower, The bar and chain alone cost me 100.. i bang out of work, hit the mac and make the drive. Roll the dice, take it home, rip it apart. Everything checks out, put gas in it and bang! She fired right up! 450 bucks. Dirty but nice! The bars are really nice, 25 is almost new
