Strong rumours have been circulating about the future of GB Australia. Have attached some documents released from the company yesterday - I don't think they help the rumours much...

I'll let you guys make up your own mind. All roads point to China in my eyes.

GB has the largest range of sprockets, I hope this continues.. It will be interesting to see what the quality will be like from the Chinese factory.

I would have expected that they'd be pushing the "Made In Australia" tag to the max if that was the case. Some of the minimum quantity orders for bars are pretty excessive too.

My take on it from the flyer is that options 1 and 2 (made to order or stock) will be the Ti bars and the pro-top bars generally the more expensive options. Option 3 will produce cheap laminate bars for the consumer market.

What about this chain? Is it going to be Chinese?

I always get a kick out of how every time a company starts getting stuff from China, the plant is always "state of the art".

It could be, except they forgot to educate the workers, and left out the quality control department......:popcorn::popcorn::givebeer:

Howdy,
In reality, they're mostly "art of the state"

Good point! :clap::clap:

Having personally visited a Shanghai plant of the company I used to work for I was very impressed. China can certainly produce goods with quality as good as anyone. However, I am a strong believer in supporting my country and I buy American made products when they are available. By the way, Toyota, Honda, BMW etc. cars assembled in this country are still foreign. I use cars as an example but this applies to anything. Just like a Stihl made in this country is still a German saw. Guess where the profits go?

What about employment for starters.

GB's chain is already Chinese and on the market branded as "EVO" chain. Just not a large range available to my knowledge at this stage. Absolute garbage too according to a few guys that have used it.
Older stocks of GB (like I have) is still rebranded Carlton.
Nothing "state of the art" comes out of China, one batch may be OK, next batch will be garbage. I believe they "can" produce quality gear, you just never know when though ;)

Well, in reality, the factory the American buyer sees is state of the art....that factory is producing in actuality, only 10% of the product, while the other 90% is being made eslwhere by 10 year olds...that is the sad truth about China, and how unsuspecting Americans are duped.
