2 gallons of Napa hydraulic oil,for winter use=$18.99. 2 gallons of Valvoline 90 weight gear oil, although stinky for summer use,$19.99

that 168 was for 4 gallons,,, but still,,,42 per gallon,,, that is bs,, i thought 16 a gallon for master mechanic bar oil was high

that's 'bio' oil. Canola oil from the grocery store would be cheaper! Heck, for that price a guy could probably feed his saws cold pressed extra virgin olive oil.

I can get the Itasca bar oil for 8.99 per gallon. It's the best bar oil I've ever used. And you just need to thin it a bit with Kerosene in the winter. It's very tacky stuff. Sticks to the chain better than Stihl oil.

The highest I've seen it is at the Stihl dealers and thaT WAS 12.99. I'd still rather pay that then stink my saws up with hydro oil. :D

Have you checked walmart? Usually you can find Poulan Pro or Itasca bar oil there for around 8-9 bucks per gallon.

Local STIHL dealer started carrying Penn Grade bar oil for $11.99/gal. No one in their right mind is gonna pay $19.99 for STIHL B&C oil. I can still get Husqvarna B&C oil for $8.99/gal. Pay any more than that then something is wrong with your head:taped:

Needed some oil the other day in a pinch. Picked up a gal of stihl bnc oil at the dealer. Took it to the counter and after they charged it to my account and printed my receipt I almost gave it back to em n told em no thanks. Instead Ill just say never again at $15.48 a gallon! Itasca was good when I used it before and thats what im gonna try n find. Also Rural King stores will sell some for around 7 bucks.

Poulan Pro --- Husqvarna --- Craftsman --- Tractor Supply house brand

These are all the same stuff. TSC has theirs on sale in February, it was $6 each this year. That's a 'stock up' price there ... :hmm3grin2orange:

The only one I always stay away from is Menard's ... like water even at zero.

Yep, that #### at Menards is crap. My 850 leaks with that stuff in the tank.

Never gonna buy that oil again. Going to use it up. Maybe I'll keep running the 250 in the log pile and over use the oiler on purpose...

Id almost spend the $20 for Stihl instead of walking in walmart.People look at me funny in walmart, maybe its cause i smell like gear oil.Seriously though,I remember buying gallons of GRC bar oil for 3.99,wasnt all that long ago .I use the cheapo non detergent 30 weight motor oil alot too,$2.39 a qt.I have bad luck with gallon jugs of oil. They either spill or a cutter tooth will poke a hole in the jug.

I have a first cousin that has a small engine and saw shop. He is a Husky dealer but mostly does lawnmower repairs (He's 81). Anyway, I was by his shop Saturday and needed some bar oil. He said he had two cases. My brother took one and I took the other.

I couldn't believe the price-

He gave me this 288 a couple of years ago. I think it only needed a couple of AV's, and gave me a 262 a few months later. Both had been abandoned at his shop.
