The top cover does say 60cc, do you think when the fins got broken the original top cover was destroyed. The real tag says 575xp s/n 09 07006909. The compression is REALLY low 40-50ish but it does have spark.

The bar is pretty fair # HV 24 58 84w. Would this be a 58ga bar? The chain is a .050 and seems kind of sloppy.

The girl selling it swore it would run but my compression gauge said otherwise. I offered her $100 and the deal was done. She did say she had been scolded for falsely advertising a Chinese knockoff.

This is my first XP Husky. It sounds like some people like this model and some don't.

The bad news is that pistons are $125 OEM, there isn't a Meteor for it, and the only other aftermarket is Golf (I bought a Golf and the ring lands were filled with flashing and it was unusable).

I have a 570 jug that will clean up very well if you need it.

That top cover looks correct, and it doesn't look like any 60cc Husky I have seen.

The good news is that with a muffler mod and the base gasket gone, it will make a stock 372 run for the truck.

I'm happy to be wrong I'm just curious as to where the top cover came from.

What? That's kinda fishy but I guess it works. Just curious what's the black tag say?

Type it as it's on the tag

He did...

The real tag says 575xp s/n 09 07006909...

The 460 doesn't say 460 on the top cover only on the starter decal. On the 575 the top cover has the XP and that's it. If it says anything else it has been added.

Sounds like someone got sticker happy to me.. The cover Sure doesn't look like a 460..

I too bought a Golf piston (for a 575) because it was the only AM one available and fortunately it was OK. Believe me, I checked it over very carefully because I know as much as 30% of golf pistons are unusable, I only use them as a last resort.

That's a very bashed up cylinder, I'd replace both C&P if I were you, you run the risk of cooking a new piston otherwise, and for what you paid, if that's all it needs, you've done well!

That's the easiest jug I've ever had clean up with acid. It looked pretty fugly but was clean and smooth in just a few minutes. Don't know how you guys do it but I like to keep the jug in a pail of hot water and put the acid on with a sponge wired on the end of a popsicle stick.

I've barely started to search but did find a VEC piston-----better or worse than a Golf?

The broken fins? Consensus

So base gasket delete, open muffler, trim limiters, cross fingers?
