That's an invasive honeysuckle bush. Don't know about the berries. But it's a nasty plant that's taking over.
Thanks for the reply. Mildly toxic, have to consume large amouts. He did not get many, will keep an eye on him and son will remove the bush. Son contacted poison control in Wisconsin. He only has 6 young boys to keep an eye on. Impossible.

Sounds like he'd have no problem coming up with a replacement model though...

Hope the boy is well! That can be scary stuff not knowing. Have him try some European buckthorn next time. Latin name is: Rhamnus cathartica. My understanding is that it is NOT poisonous...but that there is a pretty good hint in the Latin about the results of consumption. Will probably ween him from wanting to try other berries.
