    Root 47HRL saw

Here I go again... found another oddball for sale near me... it's a Root 47 HRL I believe. I would guess that it does not run, but looks "all there". I haven't seen it in person, it is at a local auction.I know it's not a common saw, but that doesn't mean it is desirable, like the "Keen...

Want to Sell Lancaster five-60 SL

I have a mostly complete Lancaster five-60 SL saw. Selling for parts or repair. Cool old saw that would be fun to fix. Far as I know, the recoil starter, fuel cap and air cleaner are all that's missing. Fuel tank and carb will need to be cleaned. Carb was on the saw when I got it... I believe...

any idea what kind of saw this is?

Looks like it might be a Lancaster five-60 SL. Best I can tell anyway. Modifiedmark, thanks for pointing me in the direction of Lancaster! Tomorrow I will try to wrap a rope on the recoil pulley to check for spark.

any idea what kind of saw this is?

Wanted to update with new pictures, now that Have finally gotten back to the barn and removed the saw from the wall. Engine is a West Bend Power Bee model 50004. I have searched but have been unable to find an answer as to what this saw is. Any ideas? Thank you, Jano

few pics of a Mac 790

I have to figure out how to work the primer switch so as to have the best chance at firing it up... seems from what I have read this switch is not too effective sometimes and it's better to squirt fuel strait into the carb?

few pics of a Mac 790

I know I shouldn't, but I tried starter fluid a couple of times. I will just use premix though. Don't want to mess up this saw.

few pics of a Mac 790

Cleaned it up and- thanks VERY much to InfiniteJest, got a starter assembly on it, so here are updated pics. I have not put much time into trying to start it. Unfortunately did not fire right up when I put gas in her... but I am getting good spark, and it pops with a little spray of starter...

few pics of a Mac 790

Hey, that is mighty nice of you! I do have the two side case pieces as seen here, and the partly wrapped handle, but it's torn up a little. If it helps, the 3 bolts on the recoil are 4" from each other. Thats's really all I need. I would gladly Give you a few bucks...

few pics of a Mac 790

Just acquired this a few days ago. Have already cleaned it up some but man is it gunked up! I will need the recoil starter for it- that is the only part that is missing so far as I can tell... Sorry I don't have pictures of it in one piece. It has a (I guess) 25" bar. Thanks for looking, J.

    Mac 790 recoil availability?

I should be getting my hands on it Wed. I have only seen pictures, but it looks all there with a 24" bar, except for the starter/ recoil assy. I won't bother @heimannm until I have it in hand...

    Mac 790 recoil availability?

If I were to get my hands on a Mac 790, what are the odds I could find a whole recoil starter assembly? Thanks, J

Mac 110- wire should be disconnected?

I overfilled the fuel- Part of the exhaust is rusted off- this may have sparked it.

Mac 110- wire should be disconnected?

It runs like a champ! My small engine repair guy cleaned the carb several times in an ultrasonic cleaner- yet still didn't fix the problems- so he replaced the carb. That took care of the issues.

Mac 110- wire should be disconnected?

So I reassembled the saw with the wire disconnected. AND IT STARTS!! It was running a bit fitful though, and would die after a minute or so... so I filled up the tank... restarted, and... IT BURST INTO FLAMES!!:blob2: I am not kidding. Luckily I was outside and was able to smother the...

Mac 110- wire should be disconnected?

Edit again... there is continuity from one end of the wire to the other, if that helps. I cannot really check continuity with the switch in different positions, as there is no access to the wire when the saw is assembled, if that makes any sense...

Mac 110- wire should be disconnected?

So I pulled it apart again. With my drill turning the motor and the plug against the block, I get spark either way- with the wire connected or not.... Also I set the air gap using a business card. It may have been set too wide.
