    Time to change my sig

I sold my 345 on e-bay to a local buyer last week and walked in this morning and bought me a new 346xp! Got it home and only was able to cut for about 10 minutes or so, but man what a nice saw! It does have the cat muffler but once it breaks in I'll probably make some mods to it. I bought my 345...

    Hydraulic add on questions

Farmerjon, Sounds like a good idea, but I have tables set up on either side of the splitter and when i split a big round, I have to roll the halves back onto the splitter to split again and it seems to me that the lift might be in the way every time the cylinder is retracted. How is yours set up?

    Hydraulic add on questions

I understand the concept but from what I've read, if you have a valve downstream of the lead valve that builds pressure to say 500 psi it can apply pressure on the outlet side of the preceding(upstream) valve's PR causing that PR valve to require an additonal pressure to release it. (That PR's...

    Hydraulic add on questions

Mike Van, I probably won't try it because although I believe that if everything is working properly, there may never be a problem, but I'm also the type of guy that has to understand how something works and if i don't, I'm hesitant to go against the grain. I wish I could find an actual...

    Hydraulic add on questions

Cabinman, I thought about that also, probably would be the most economical route and the simplest. I would like to not have to switch a diverter valve between log lift/ split operations, but I think that would be a viable option and allow me to use my existing splitter valve, lift cylinder...

    Hydraulic add on questions

Thanks, blazin. That might be my best option and just have to go with the DA cylinder on the lift.

    Hydraulic add on questions

That is what I was thinking also. My issue is, can I get a 3-way valve(to run a single acting cylinder), with the power beyond feature? I have found them that are convertible to open center or closed center but not PB. I know it can be done, as all of the splitters that are built with auxilary...

    Hydraulic add on questions

That is what I thought also. My understanding is that your exhaust oil passes through/by the relief valve and if return line PSI were to build up ( ie valve downstream) that it can force the relief valve closed and a higher PSI is required to overcome relief valve, possibly over what the valve...

    Hydraulic add on questions

I am upgrading my splitter and am looking to install an auxilary control valve for my log lift. I have a boom lift with a single acting cylnder that is current operated by a manual pump. I will be upgrading pump/engine/splitter cylinder and would like to operate my lift with the pump also. Does...

    New splitter valve from Prince

I noticed it just this evening while browsing prince's website. Very interesting. I am doing some splitter upgrades soon which leads me to a question on hydraulics, but I'll post a separate thread.

    Woodstove Repairs???

You can braze cast iron, but you have to use a large tip and preheat the entire area thoruoghly for it to hold. When I was still turning wrenches in the chevy dealer, I repaired cylinder head cracks on 2 occasions this way and a cracked block. I've also brazed forward control mounts on harley...

I wanna do it, am I crazy?

Whoa guys, chill out. MSLANKET, If you feel that you have the mechanical aptitude, go for it. But If I were you, I would research into this site and on the internet, specifically for hydraulic theory, power requirements, pump sizing, etc. A 4" cylinder will provided less splitting force than a...

Does anyone here have any first or secondhand experience with the cleaner burnig tarm, greenwood , garn etc. gasification furnaces. I have been doing a lot of research on the subject and am looking at going from woodstove to outdoor wood heat. The current issues regarding OWB's and emissions is...

    Another dealer comment!

Seems there are a fair amount of negative comments about some local saw dealers, and since spring is the time of rejuvenation I thought I'd breathe some fresh life into the subject by sharing another great experience I had with my local husky dealer thiis week. I'm rebuilding a 266 e-bay find...

    Stihl question again

Either way sounds like your dealer lacks a lot in the customer relations department. I'd look for another dealer
