Have been helping a friend clean up a large tree that fell on his property all the big stuff is cut so grabbed my 305 pro to finish up. I got the saw from a old shop that was cleaning up there warehouse this saw had a bad piston. I...

As long as were talking about pressure/vacuum testing what tester are guys using, I just pulled this picture offline this one works good for me plus I use it to bleed my brakes.

    McCulloch Chain Saws

Like Ron said block all holes and use a nipple/fitting and sealer sometimes it takes me a few trys before I can get things sealed what works on one saw doesn't always work on another plus I tend to use what I have available so less then ideal sometimes

I always leave plug in and block off the intake and exhaust I put a fitting in the easiest one to access, I like using the intake since it's the lowest port. Easiest to do when saw is disassembled

I noticed that too with some of the poulan saws you have to subtract the piston ring pin width when the rings are flat against the pin. just did a 3000 like that compression was a solid 130 with used parts. Kevin

    McCulloch Chain Saws

I bought a beat up poulan from there just for parts I was the only bidder so was cheap, except shipping was 3 times what I paid for the saw. very worthwhile just don't expect fast shipping, I also have asked for details on some of the saws no replys.

    Poulan 335 Pro crank movement

Been getting some of my saws running mostly this series just wondering how much side to side movement is acceptable before I need to worry about crank bearings seems most have some movement. No up and down movement at all. Also anyone have the correct seal part numbers Thanks

    McCulloch Chain Saws

I know when a saw gets used without cleaning afterwards then sits for years the crude just seems to spread and get hard that's what happened to this one, cleaned it pretty good should really pull the flywheel and clutch to really get it clean. Happy with the results so far just need a gas line...

Well got the Super Pro 60 cleaned up took the bar off it and put it on the 800. Didn't check compression yet but doing the drop test seems to have plenty of that. Was going to start it today but gas line needs replacing

I would think piston height would effect exhaust port timing

I use my USC all the time I clean my carbs first then when water gets to dirty for carbs I clean the rest of the parts pretty much cleaned my whole PM 60 in it some parts were to big for the cover to be on and I have to flip them. I use the air hose and parts washer first of course
