    Engineering Explained test drives Cybertruck

Thanks for posting. It's kind of a truck for people who don't need a truck. Some cool engineering that could bleed into other markets.

    Received bare root Western Hemlocks

I ordered a couple trays of western hemlock seedling and after a couple months wait a package arrived. Well what was received was 50ea 12”-15” hemlocks someone pulled out of the ground and shipped bare root. I have a few very mature acres where we experienced some blow down 10years ago...

Looking for large battery chainsaw to replace one of mine.

Anything new to report about the EGo ChainSaws ? I have an Ego mower with 7.5ah battery and it’s been great. Can get through my flat acre of lawn without an issue. (sucks in field area). Was think of adding one of their saws. I have a ton of Milwaukee m18 stuff for work plus the pole saw and...

    Gas for milling?

. If I could afford to run Tru-Fuel For everything I would….the exhaust gas is much less irritating to be around than gasoline. That said, We run E free for most stuff as it’s much much cheaper than tru-fuel and we sometimes burn a lot of fuel!

Husky vs Stihl vs Echo for Milling

I use Canola or other cheap Veggie oil if I’m milling a bunch with the 3120. It’s easy to go through a couple gallons of bar oil when slabbing a few big logs… I don’t want all that poison on my land…. It adds up. You’ve got to clean up your saw and mill though as Veggie oils can harden/gel up...

    Ripsaw Portable Bandsaw?

Buy it and try it. There is enough interest in those that you can likely easily unload it if you don’t get along.

    Circular saw beam cutter

The Prazi is Fine for cross cuts and making pockets... not so much for ripping. You'll want a gas generator and a Mag77 for best results. I use a Bigfoot 10 1/4" beam saw for ripping up to 3 3/4" thick stock. It works great now that I pull out the generator and bail on using extension cords...

    Milwaukee M18 Polesaw

Acme tool. They had a kit deal at the time with base/saw, 3’ extenstion, articulating hedge-trimmer blade , and 9.ah battery/charger for about $400 shipped. Acme used to sell sales tax free to my state… no longer …..

    oak deck experiment

It’s only sold direct from company as far as I know. (I buy it directly anyway). First time I used it was 2011/12 .... A client recomended the stuff to coat some fir exterior newel posts... I looked at that project last year as a tread loosened up... looks great.... posts silvered out just...

    oak deck experiment

I’ve been using this stuff for my clients that want a weathered to go with longevity(link below). The stuff is “water” thin going on... shows no lap marks on second coat.... very forgiving to apply. https://timberprocoatingsusa.com/products/internal-wood-stabilizer/

3120XP Chain Tensioner Issue w/ New Cannon Bar

You may have a chain meant for stihl 42” rather than Husky. Stihl takes a shorter chain.... there’s a chart somewhere that shows the link count for a given brand/bar length.

Coolest or rarest wood you have milled

^^^^ I like that grain... like “composite“ . Was the log(s) kind of “punky” by the time it was milled?

Suggestions for cooling big powerheads while cs milling

Not sure on your oil ?.... I run 40:1 in my 3120 have tried 32:1 but only found it difficult to keep tune. As to heat, Even here in western Washington, I save all the milling for the months of October-May. So much else to do in spring\summer and hot saws = unhappy saw = unhappy sawer.

    Chainsaw Size for Mill

What they said ^^^ Big cubes, Big oiler, big tanks..... Milling is demanding on saws. You'll want plenty of "Headroom" with your powerhead. I started with 90cc and then quickly went to 120cc.. That said, if you have small diameter logs and just want to give a try....you might get through it...

Decision Time: 3120xp or ms880 for milling only

The previous owner of my saw had the high jet adjustment screw installed On the carb... it works fine but... for milling... a fixed factory jet combined with factory limited coil might even be preferable....for milling . :D

Decision Time: 3120xp or ms880 for milling only

I Also run a 3120 and have not had hot re-start issues with this saw. Since you have Husky mount bars, the 3120 is probably your best choice. Given you run a 390, you can interchange power heads and bars which is nice. The 880 has it's own special bar mount bolt pattern and you'll find a few...
