    Open mouth "angry" bear

I've done the happy, smiley bears with the open mouth but never one with teeth before. The head got it's life from an old carve I was unhappy with and figured I'd try something different with. When that turned out to my liking I glued it up on another log and finished it off with a new to me...

    Turtle sitting stump..

A few weeks ago I was approached to carve a turtle sitting stump for a Native American woman who had recently lost her father. Being part of the "Turtle Clan" she sent me pic of the idea she wanted and a little history note to go along with it. The sitting stump would be placed at her dads grave...

    Owl combo

Been trying to get some quick flat work/relief carves done up with some of my slabs. After I finished the wings out owl I decided to just incorporate it into a regular stump carve. Adds a new element of "bigness" to an average size log that I'm kinda diggin'! We'll see how a 6ft wingspan...

    200lb maple toad

That was just a random pattern of small touching circles I did with my 170 and carving bar. Time consuming and repetitious but I really couldn't think of any other way to do it.

    200lb maple toad

Thanks guys! For the finish I just gave it a good deep burn with the weed torch and then hit the high spots with the flap sander on my angle grinder. Then I brushed on coat of Minwax Golden Pecan and sealed it with a few coats of spar urethane.

    200lb maple toad

This one wasn't as easy for me as I thought it would be, but I think it turned out alright in the end. When I see a toad, I see a warty ball with legs and bulging eyes and not much more, so trying to turn that into some carveable features was a bit of a challenge for me. The texture was a new...

    Simple garden bench

I bought a 36" Granberg mill last fall I run on my 372xp with 28" bar. I've only milled up a handful of 22" stuff so far with it but really enjoy incorporating the mill work into my carvings. I've got a truckload of bigger logs here to attack as soon as I sell enough of these to cover the cost...

    Simple garden bench

Oh yeah, the dry time, ease of clean up, and lack of fumigation are a big plus so far working with the water base stuff. I got 6 coats on this one so we'll see how it holds up. I actually got started with all my carving working with bark, antlers, and animal skulls. That's what got me hooked on...

    Simple garden bench

Thanks! I use Hellsmans Spar Urethane on all my carvings. I use to prefer the oil base but some new VOC regulations in NY last year made purchasing it by the gallon not an option any longer. I bought a couple gallons last year online but at $80/gallon compared to the $45 I was spending....I...

    Simple garden bench

Finished this bench up yesterday. Maple back and seat, with ash sides and center support. I was gonna carve the back and sides but I have a real hard time selling items once the price tag exceeds $300 around here. Figured if I'm gonna be "sitting on this one for a while", I'll hold off on any...

    Thanks guys!

    First bench

I've been meaning to carve a bench for quite some time now and finally got around to doing just that. Still got a little work left to do on it, but pretty happy with the way it's coming along!

    Buck carve

Fathers day order I finished up today.

    Elephant

I carved this guy last summer and threw him under a tarp without finishing since no one showed any interest in him to that point. Conveniently got a request for an elephant last week and this one worked for my customer so I wrapped up the screwing, gluing, and tattooing this past weekend!

    Wings up eagle

I tried this design last year and it really sucked IMO. Gave it another shot this year and I'm much happier with how it turned out.

Tried a new toy today Arbotech power planer

I was considering one of those last year but decided to try the ball gouge instead. ZERO complaints with the performance and quality of this tool, but in hindsight I can think of so many better ways to put $110 in my tool box!

    Cherry owl

Getting off to a really slow start this year with all this craziness going on, but starting to pick up some momentum now I think.;) This one didn't go 100% according to plan when my first cuts at the neck line went a little too deep and threw off the proportions, but I made a few adjustments and...

    Pelican carving

I had a customer that has been patiently waiting for this carve since this past summer. I'venever done a pelican before even though it's one of the most common carves out there, so I have to admit I was a little nervous if my version would be to her liking. She's thrilled with it so far, and I'm...

    Selling carvings on Facebook

I left that field very generic and handled everything through messenger on a case by case basis depending on their level of interest. I do the same with my business page, and leave out all the pricing and exact location details. I have too much tied up in tools and merchandise to be giving out...

    Selling carvings on Facebook

I just titled my stuff as "chainsaw carvings" and posted with the lowest priced carve in the lineup. I'm not even sure what category FB Marketplace automatically listed it under. Fair warning though, if your post gets enough traffic and interest, be prepared to reply to literally hundreds of...
