    Stihl 500i

First viewing I was too busy watching the saw and sawyer to notice the sound. Replayed and listened with my eyes shut and you can hear a bit of a change - from my own saws breaking in, I'd guess Buckin felt it begin to pull harder as much as anything....

    Stihl 500i

Play that video back again - he was grinning when the rings started to bed in and the saw really started to sing! I reckon he does really like the saw but he's a husky man to his core for work saws.

    What barmount for Echo CS621sx

Whinbush - I'm not linked to this company but they sell bar adaptors and a very wide range of bars and chains: www.chainsawbars.co.uk. The web site has a bar and chain search facility which, if nothing else, will help you identify a bar and chain combo for your saw.

Stihl 038 AV Super wont start anymore

I picked up an 038 Farmboss (Super Equivalent in my part of the world...) some time ago and I found that since it had sat for "a while" the carb diaphragm had dried up. I pulled it over on "stop" to pull a bit of fuel up into the carb and left it for a few days. That seemed to soften the...

    Ms 241c Picco b & c issues

Just to stir the pot a wee bit, this is Stihl's current catalogue listing for the MS241: https://www.stihl.co.uk/static/stihl-catalogue/html5/index.html#r=sidebar?pn=55 .325 RS chain as standard! Dealers will fit out saws with what their customers want whether it is 3/8 picco or .325

Stihl 038 AV Super wont start anymore

Without causing offence, you need to pull that saw over properly. You need to pull it through the compression and yes, if you are half hearted about it, the 038 WILL bite you! Even if they have been sitting, my 038s will usually pop on the second or third pull on choke and then run on the next...

Mag Rot - How Far Is Too Far?

Would it be worth buying a set of Farmertec cases for this rebuild? Presumably you will reassemble with whatever good components came off the "donor" saw.

    Mcculloch Pro Mac 10-10

Don't rule out the possibility that it is the duck bill valve in the fuel cap that is causing the leak....

    Jonsered Chainsaws

One of the pictures gives more-or-less a top down view of the muffler - the top is flat which makes me think someone has just rounded the stock 70e outlet.

    Jonsered Chainsaws

The bit where the pinch bolt for the handle should be is broken off. Whatever did that probably wrecked the original top handle and they used a Jonsereds 80 handle to replace it. From the pictures, my view is that the exhaust outlet is the squared off one I would expect on a J. 621 or 70e but it...

Isn't that how all saws start out?

How many Chainsaws do you own?

Let me think this through... Got my first "proper" full time job in '99 and decided to buy myself a Stihl 038 to go along with the "family" 038AV that my father and uncle have shared since the very early 1980s. E bay provided me with an allegedly broken 038 Super with metal handle. Got it home...

    The unofficial Mac 10-10 thread

Let me know the part number and I'll make enquiries. I have already passed on a "few" part numbers for them to look for but I'm not holding out a lot of hope as they commented about having cherry picked larger NOS parts and that makes me think that they overlooked a lot of the "smalls".

    The unofficial Mac 10-10 thread

Much appreciated that helps me out! - my original Pro 10-10A and SP 55 part lists are dated 1975 and 1973 and lack reference to the chainbrake...

    Rust removal from chains?

Since there may be a few two stroke owners on this forum, I'll add that 100ml of two stroke oil to a fill of diesel will do the same job.

    The unofficial Mac 10-10 thread

Hi folks, My parts lists aren't helping me today... Could one of you kind folk provide me with the part numbers for the short, chain brake/clutch covers used on the 7-10 and Pro 10-10 Automatics? I have come across someone who cleared out an old dealership and amongst other NOS stock, there are...

    Jonsered Chainsaws

Exactly why I switch saws to rim sprockets!! Might have had to skip out of the way of an odd chain or two over the years... :)

    Jonsered Chainsaws

Some years ago I was told that there is less power lost from a spur than a rim sprocket and that they were a better option on big saws with loads of torque...

    Homelite Chainsaws

An xl12 Auto wearing the same muffler/exhaust sold on UK eBay a couple of months ago. I was intrigued by the "bean can" look of the muffler but wasn't tempted to bid.
