    Mikita dcs6421 won’t start.

I’ve had the saw for a few years and it’s always been trouble free until a few months ago. I can’t get it started. I have spark when I pull the plug and have it against the head. My compression is around 110 psi, not sure what it should be. When I pull the plug after I start it there is fuel on...

    log splitter problem

I ordered the valve and finally got around to installing it seeing I’m hone. Same result. I can get the pressure up to around 1300 psi when cold but as it warms up it only goes to about 1000 psi. I turned the adjustment screw in about a 1.5 turns but no difference. the only thing that has...

    log splitter problem

Today I tried adjusting the bypass on the valve. I believe that I'm adjusting the right. There was a 5/8 nut and when I removed it there was a screw under it. I could only get 1 full turn clockwise and the pressure got up to 1500 PSI. I tried the screw the other direction and the max pressure...

    log splitter problem

Sorry for the misunderstanding The gauge is mounted on a tee right before the valve I moved the gauge around to try to get different readings. When I put it directly on the pump that when the motor did not start because there was to much pressure Thanks

    log splitter problem

Hey guys. Well I changed the pump last year and than the weather changed, got tied up with my kids and sports, and working on the house , So the wood splitter took a long rest This week I pulled it out to finish up some wood that I had and now it splits the straight grain stuff no problem but...

    log splitter problem

I had time today so I messed with the splitter to see what was going on. I put the gauge directly on the pump and it would not go above 500 psi. (Bad pump). So I contacted the guy that I brought the pump from and he already refunded my money. So now I’m in search of another pump. I did however...

    log splitter problem

Thanks. I will try that tomorrow. I was thinking of trying that today but was not sure if I would have problems starting the motor under pressure.

    log splitter problem

It is silent. You just hear the engine. I have never heard anything from the control valve, not sure if I should or not. I moved the gauge to the supply line before the cylinder, dead heading the pump and it will not go above 500 psi. So I’m ruling out the cylinder as the problem. So it’s...

    log splitter problem

I am using automatic transmission fluid. The manual said you can use it. There is a filter which was replaced recently along with the fluid.

    log splitter problem

Had a friend stop by and welded it up and I was back in business for a few hours before the thing stopped working again. Now I can only get 500 psi on the supply line before the valve. The engine is bogging down but the gauge won't go any higher. I went back out after lunch and was playing...

    log splitter problem

I was just splitting a 12-14" dia log with not knots and I heard a loud crack, like when your going through a piece of knotty wood. I looked down at the pressure gauge and it was at 1500 psi but the wedge was not going through the wood, so I looks at the other end and surprise. I did not mess...

    log splitter problem

It’s broken off it has some angle iron behind it holding it on. Looking at it I thought that I could buy the piece and have a welder put it on. But if it could be fixed as is that works too.

    log splitter problem

Thanks for all of your advise so far. The splitter worked great yesterday, today I fired it up and 10 minutes in the plate at the end of the beam that holds the wood in place cracked/ split right where the plate meets the beam. Where would I find another one of those plates? I looked online...

    log splitter problem

I re[laced the pump yesterday and everything is all set. I tried to mess with the adjustment screw but it made no difference, so I just went ahead and swapped out the pump. Thank you for all of your help and suggestions. I learned a lot a lot about hydraulics along the way. Thanks again Mike...

    log splitter problem

Mike Thankyou for the offer. Do you think it is the Pump? With the hose disconnected should I be pumping 11 gpm's instead of around 4? I'm learning a lot thru this process but still have a long way to go.

    log splitter problem

The hose appears to be in good condition. It’s only about 3 feet long with a spring wrapped around it . The filter is brand new and on the return side. It has a Honda engine which is fairly quiet And I do not har/notice the pump making any noise Thanks for your input

    log splitter problem

I took the pump apart and checked the spring and ball and everything seemed ok ( clean, nothing broken etc) I took the supply hose off and pumped it into a bucket, and I'm getting roughly 4 gallons per minute, the pump is rated for 11gpm, but I'm not so sure when that happens. I did not...

    log splitter problem

Thank you Do I just remove the cap and clean the ball/ spring or do I buy a rebuild kit? I have a haldex pump 718-04127 The PDF that VirginiaIron posted (thanks) was for models 1012,1053,1056. It looks the same as mine Hopefully I will have time to mess with it tomorrow after work

    log splitter problem

Thanks for the quick response. In my travels today I found a hydraulic supplier and picked up the tee and parts needed to hook up my gauge before the valve. With the motor idling I have “0” on the gauge. With the piston moving out I have “0” on the gauge. Once the piston bottoms out the gauge...

    log splitter problem

Thanks for the advise. I took the supply hose off the valve, it’s a 3/4” thread. All in need is a tee, nipple and bushing for the gage What kind of fittings do I use? I know there is a lot of pressure there.
