I have a very early 051AVE that has developed ignition issues. Can I replace the coil/trigger (1111 400 1305/1114 400 1000) with the newer stihl ignition module (1111 400 1303)?

Interesting. I was contemplating using permatex 80019 aviation sealant. I googed Permatex anaerobic and there are two types. Flange sealant 51531 and gasket maker 51813. Which do you use?

Is there a particular gasket material that is preferred for the cases? Seems the aftermarket are made from a different material than OE.

Restoring a sentimental 051 with the help of this thread. Thanks everyone! Was searching for the source of metal that caused the failure and just discovered the wonky crank bearing. Found the three small pieces in the spark plug and the fished the large one out of the crank bearing. I assume...

Also my IPL is of no apparent use on for the internal worm seal. Any ideas? Is it replaceable? It looks like an O-ring. I have been afraid to try and remove it until I know I can source a new one. Are there any earlier IPL's floating around for the early 051s?
