How many time could 1 fix a chainsaw before it finally quits

My brothers Pinto has lasted rather well, it now has a 383 stroker for motivation instead of the 4 banger but it really scats when the pedal is depressed. Gets around some on days the weather is dry enough the rear tires can get some traction.

    Dolmar PS9000 struggles

Many times it is caused by the nedle valve in the carb is allowing seepage past it, some tims it is the metering diaphragm has gone hard and is holding the needle off its seat, other times can be a bit of debris or a corroded seat not allowing complete sealing of the needle valve. The fuel tanks...

Pioneer farm saw 2 help please

Since the EPA has taken away most of the best/good products for carbon removal many have resorted to using oven cleaner, not the wimpy citrus types but the high strength types. Where I live we can get a brand called Easy Off , sometimes also listed as barbecue or grille cleaner. There is also a...

How many time could 1 fix a chainsaw before it finally quits

The crankcase will last until the bearing pockets wear out from spun bearings. If the bearings never get spun then the rest is just replaceable parts, even the crankcase halves are replaceable but I figure it is still the original saw as long as the original crankcase is still used. i have a 044...

Pioneer farm saw 2 help please

The maroon Scotchbrite pads do a fine job of cleaning and deglazing chainsaw cylinders, it does require some elbow grease though, wash the cylinders out very well with hot water and soap to remove all fine grit after deglazing.

    Stihl 026 porting

You will not be running the OEM 026 air filter if you switch to a bigger carb.

    How Many Chains

From your post count and your join up date I can see you have not been on here long. There are members on here that own 200, 300 and even 700 or more chainsaws so just a mere 300 loops of chain hardly scratches the surface of chainsaw collectors/users. If I counted up all the rolls of new chain...

Tear it down look to see where the oil is coming from, the fix will then be quite obvious.

    Stihl 026 porting

Winter filter works great on my 026`s and have so for 20 odd years, they breathe very well but others claim they let through fine dust. Not for me but a finer mesh may be needed for areas that have drier conditions.

The 2 man Poulans were likely the biggest saws they made, the 2400 and the 5200 come to mind. Many of the sand cast Poulans were big and sort of heavy.

Myself and my dad ran 306A`s and 245`s, they were very well made all magnesium chassis saws. The site linked below will take you to many of the good Poulans starting with the 3400, 3700 and on up. https://www.acresinternet.com/cscc.nsf/GasbyManufacturer?OpenView&Start=1&Count=1000&Expand=113#113

Fun story: Stihl 026 won't run with wrong carb

The carb from a 260 will run a 026 ,no problem, not the 261. If the carb from a 260 did not run on a 026 then it was a defective carb.
