Looking for ideas on processing 2-3" sticks

"H-FRAME" H-FRAME for trimming logs. Works with smaller branches, too. Screw in steel eye bolts for bungee or ratchet strap use as needed.

Stihl FS90R, "circular saw" type blade?

The chisel tooth saw blade is awesome for cutting woody brush and small trees, but as already stated, you really don't want to run that without bike handles and double shoulder harness. The Stihl large deflector is helpful, too.

The pressure put on a father

I don't think anyone in this discussion started by Mustang71 ever stated that hunting from a vehicle or having a loaded firearm in, on, or leaning against a vehicle is legal or advisable. My original post only had to do with the possibility of the lights that Mustang71's son had seen may have...

The pressure put on a father

There certainly is hunting after sunset in both NY and PA (furbearers). While no hunting after sunset (or a short period after sunset) is pretty much the rule for many game animals everywhere in the country, spotlighting (observing) is not considered "hunting" and is legal in PA, NY, and many...

The pressure put on a father

I don't know about NY, but in PA it's legal to spotlight deer *from the road* from sunrise to 11 p.m. Other restrictions are it has to be outside of firearms deer season, no lighting up buildings or livestock, and person spotlighting can not be armed (licensed CC is ok). Personally, I don't do...

The pressure put on a father

Lots of folks are spotting deer this time of year. Just last night, a pickup truck slowed down while passing my house to shine a spotlight into my yard. The driver pressed on the brakes, which lit up red and highly visible from my window.

    Chainsaw maintenance, handling/cutting course

Video series: Stihl Chainsaw Safety, Operation & Maintenance I'd use something like that as the base for a program and then add to it.

    New Beginner Chainsaw

As we all have different situations and priorities, processing firewood doesn't make sense for everyone. If in the future you ever decide to get a saw, the good thing is that they keep getting better and better. I just explained similar sentiment at my local tire shop. I'm perfectly capable...

Is a Stihl MS 261 more "dangerous" than a homowner saw?

Regardless of the saw, the most important consideration in reducing kickback probability is having knowledge about what causes kickback and not putting your bar there. A combination of both a low kickback chain on a low kickback bar helps to reduce the probability of kickback.

So ya put bar oil in the gas tank and gas in the bar oil tank

Did it once years ago. I was rushing and put bar oil in the fuel tank on a 346XP. Fortunately, I realized what I did when I went to screw on the fuel cap. My solution: I dumped the oil out, rinsed the fuel tank twice with some 2-cycle fuel, and it started right up. It smoked a little but...

    Chain price vs value

Yeah, never saw a deal like that on reels. I was referring to the loops that OP wants to purchase.

    Chain price vs value

Same here: Buy one, get one 1/2 price. Buy two, get the third free.

    Echo 280e new chain

Once you get the clip off, Not difficult. There are plenty of online videos that show the general idea. Special tools for sprocket replacement: 1) Piston stop (not always needed, depends on saw) 2) Clutch removal tool that fits your model/model family (not always needed, sometimes a regular...

    Echo 280e new chain

I'd buy the 76DL chain for that bar. I'd be surprised if the sprocket and bar combination ended up needing +/- one link.

    Echo 280e new chain

Oregon bar model 140SDAA041 lists as being 1/4" pitch. Carlton drive link marked "N1" indicates 3/8LP pitch. Someone likely converted the saw to run 1/4" pitch, rendering the sticker on the saw meaningless. Look for a pitch stamp on the saw's drive sprocket to confirm that it's also 1/4"...

Old Apple Tree Trunk Split & Fell Over

Do you like those apples? You may have an older variety of apple tree that's difficult to replace in terms of the fruit it produces (flavor, color, how it cooks, etc.). If you like your apples, research growing some new trees from cuttings (don't delay).

    Bar recommendation

There are lots of nice premium bars out there, but I've been pleased with the lighter weight of the narrow kerf (NK) Husqvarna laminate bar that came with my 10 year old 346XP. I've run standard kerf .325 050 chain on it without issue. Chains run: one Oregon 95VP (came with saw) and almost...

    New Beginner Chainsaw

Any chaps are better than none, and Stihl chaps will suffice. Wear them every time. Don't forget to add protective footwear to your list if you don't have already have it (steel/composite toes at a minimum). If you know your hands are sensitive to vibrations, consider anti-vibration gloves...
