New here first post Husqvarna 266xp vs Echo CS620P

first. thing I'd reccomend is that you make sure your old 266 is in good shape. Try a new chain and bar. Make sure your carb is adjusted correctly. It should be able to idle nicely and spin (perhaps) 11000 rpm, but rich enough to rev from idle to wfo without hesitation. I like to use a 72cc saw...

    JPN Tech u-2500

RCP, I remember back in the late 70's to early 80's Redmax made a top handle the was sought after by climbers. I never encountered one. I don't think the dealers in the SFO bay area carried them. There was a Poulan reed-valve and the original Stihl T20 (piston ported). I preferred the Echo 3400...

    JPN Tech u-2500

Thanks for the info thanks for the info, I know that when husky bought zenoah , it was only for their patents. They didn't want to make the saws, and the Chinese jumped on it.

    JPN Tech u-2500

Thanks for the help. I have at least one redmax in my herd. Tne saw I just bought is my second of this type. I don't climb anymore, advanced age has limited that. But, I do use a top handle when 72ccs is more than I need. I cut a small truck load of Siberian elm today to break in the new saw and...

    JPN Tech u-2500

Purchased one of these 25cc top hand saws recently. and I'm pleasantly surprised by the build quality. I was wondering if anyone has an idea about the lineage. Chineses saws are usually built from old Stihl or Husky dies, but I can't find any saw that looks like one of these. I can usually...

    575 husky crankshaft bearings

tot and mark- thanks for the feed back. that seal part number 503 26 09-01 is no longer available from husqvarna, at least not at http://www.husqvarnapartstore.com/ or partstree.com. if you have a source, please let us know. i have a 570 that needs new seals on my bench.

    575 husky crankshaft bearings

well you surely have me scratching my head at this point. as far as i know, all 570's and 575's have no "clutch side" seal. there isn't room for one under the inboard clutch. there is a conventional seal on the flywheel side. the pto side has... again... a husqavarna proprietary 6205 bearing...

    575 husky crankshaft bearings

thanks for the input, don't need to do any research. i've done the job several times. the flywheel side seal is shown in two different ipl drawings, one for the case and another for the crank. but since you're so well acquainted with this subject why don't you give us some advice on splitting...

    575 husky crankshaft bearings

“But if the seal itself leaks and the bearing is still good you can replace the seals on BOTH sides." chipper- what you quoted above is not from me, its from sugarbush. check a few posts above, typical, it doesn't make much sense. you should be more careful. really i don't want you to hand me...

    575 husky crankshaft bearings

here is what i wrote: "if you've replaced the clutch (pto) side seal on a 570, 575 or 576, you've split the cases. it's the only way to do it because the seal is part of the bearing, like a dust or grease seal. the flywheel side has a conventional seal that can be pried out after removing the...

    575 husky crankshaft bearings

mark- pull off your clutch. try to find a seal. there ain't one, just a bearing. remove the flywheel and take a look. you'll see a conventional bearing, conventional enuff that you can buy one at your local bearing supply. normally i would post fotos, but it's too cold to toddle down to the...

    575 husky crankshaft bearings

ah dang!- i was totally with you until the last sentence: "I only have owned one and only replaced the clutch side seal on one" if you've replaced the clutch (pto) side seal on a 570, 575 or 576, you've split the cases. it's the only way to do it because the seal is part of the bearing, like...

    575 husky crankshaft bearings

chipper- reading your post again, i think i understand what you were trying to say. I think we're in agreement. i just had to decode it.

    575 husky crankshaft bearings

mark- maybe you didn't read the whole post. it is a question about the bearings, orignal post: what followed was a ton of bs posted by hombres who'd never popped the hood on a 575. i was only trying to answer the question asked... are both bearings the same? no, one, the fw side is a standard...

    575 husky crankshaft bearings

so how many times have you replaced bearings/seal on a 575? There is no seal inboard the pto bearing. the seal is integrated with the bearing, like a standard dust or grease seal.

    Stihl clambshell reassembly question 025

i haven't tried it yet... but next time i do an 029 i'm going to try leaving the bottom in the plastic case, there would be two advantages. first, you wouldn't have to remove the bar stud, and second, you wouldn't have to screw around figuring out just the right angle to get the entire "short...

    575 husky crankshaft bearings

here's the ipl. on the pto there is no conventional seal. the 575 uses a sealed bearing. i'm not speaking hypothetically. i've been in there and replaced the crank bearings and flywheel side seal. the disk shaped parts inboard the bearings are crank stuffers. i think some of the older ipls were...

    575 husky crankshaft bearings

I've never replaced the bearings and seals on a 390... yet, but in the 575 there is no separate seal on the pto side, just a bearing, probably a fafnir. last time i bought one it was around $60 before shipping. the flywheel side bearing and seal are vanilla. even there i would avoid ebay. it...

    575 husky crankshaft bearings

On the 575 (and many other modern huskys) the clutch side seal is integrated with the bearing. that means you have to split the cases if the clutch side seal leaks. the flywheel side bearing is an ordinary bearing and the seal is separate. The clutch side bearing is expensive. The flywheel side...

Bearing loose on the crank? Anybody ever tried this trick?

not really, what causes the failure is deterioration of the bearing. when the difference in torque between the bearing and the shaft is too great the bearing slips on the shaft and/or whatever holds the outer race. the trick is to replace the bearing before that happens. that's accomplished by...
