No. Detroits were set up for many applications. Some that required air compressors. Brakes are a single drum brake on the output shaft of the transfercase, Hydraulic with a simple master cylinder similiar to an old truck. Park brake could be a cable actuated brake band (usually the park brake...

C5 would have had a 3-53 if original, If it has a detroit chances are good that is has Rockwell rearends (PR52's), same as a 230 timberjack. I know they used two different transfercases in them in the 70's, Im not sure what year the cut-off is for the later transfercase. I believe they had a New...

Oh it's definitely getting irons. I have 4 single diamonds I'm going to narrow up for those little tires. Actually saturday I got it fired up for the first time after buying it and re wiring it. Tonight I hope to start pulling the transmission to diagnose the clutch issue. But for what I...

Upgraded my scrounging abilities for next season

The dump trailer is quite the unit in and of itself. It was an equipment trailer (homebuilt) at one point, then my uncle turned it into the dump trailer you see now. Its 6x9, I assume it was an 18' equipment trailer, with 30" sides. If i pile the wood in, and round it slightly, I get over a cord...

Upgraded my scrounging abilities for next season

It's a sugar bush, so we "scrounge" the diseased and other trees. Is it real scrounging? No! But I will still scrounge closer to home, it's an hour plus ride with a loaded trailer to the lot. Plan is to cut some neighbors wood too

Upgraded my scrounging abilities for next season

Well this year since last October has provided alot of opportunities for changes in life. Wife and I bought a house with wood stove, but I've grown up with having firewood/wood stoves in the house. Upgrades started by included buying a 2004 Duramax for pennies on the pound (literally), then...

    Runnin' Loads

Load of maple/hickory I brought home tonight. Finally got the brake controller/trailer brakes straightened around on the dump trailer, so we put a full stacked load on instead of just tossing it in like normal.

My 2009 1500 with 5.3 and 6 speed. Hauled all of last years wood and a portion of this years with this truck. This was the last load of split wood I had at another location. I had gotten tired of trucking it with that little box on the half ton and borrowed my gramps dump trailer again to bring...

    TSC bar oil?

Thats all I've ever known it to be too. I know that 30 weight will stick to just about everything when its cold

    TSC bar oil?

zogger, Typically the winter weight is a 10 weight oil and the summer is a 30 weight. I always have the oilers turned up on my saws, but I also dont grease the tips. I've never had a tip blow from running either weight oil. Winter time if we cant get 10 weight we will run a mix of 30 weight...

    TSC bar oil?

Tsc Has 2 different versions of their bar and chain oil. I can get pics of both if Someones interested. I buy all I can of the Winter Blend, when our local store has it. Its 11 a gallon. Their summer grade is $7 regularly on sale. We run gallons and gallons of it in the wood processor.

Two "Huztl" aftermarket saw builds, a Husqvarna 350 & 372 actually working

On the double trunked trees and trying to keep them together to fall them, Make your face cut as low as possible, and back cut as equally low and leave a good hinge. When the tree starts to go, tickle the hinge wood and they will usually go together. Typically the lower on the stump you cut the...
