    3-Point Splitter Modifications

I have heard a number of people complain about the legs supplied by some manufacturers on 3-point splitters. For anyone out there with a 3-point splitter, you might be interested in the modifications i made to my Ramsplitter, to convert it into a stand-alone splitter, so i can use my tractor for...

How do you guys make people happy by the cord?

I cut all my wood 18" long, which causes problems if you want to stack 3 x 16" long to get the 4 ft. width. My solution is to run a stack down each side with the 18" long wood as usual, which leaves a space about a 12" space in the middle, which I fill with wood laid long-ways. So far, I've not...

    Fiskars Super splitting axe review

I'm going to try putting an edge on my Monster Maul this weekend, and see what happens. Anything has to be better than blunt steel. I also noticed my SS has improved my swing with my MM.:blob3:

What is a good way to get into selling firewood on a small scale?

It's not a stumper for me, or for most of us that understand and cut wood. But I just had a young couple pick up a true "full cord", and after seeing how much it really was, they were ready to go after the guy that supplied them their last "cord". Seems he and I don't measure 4ft. x 4ft. x 8ft...

What is a good way to get into selling firewood on a small scale?

With all the gas wells going in here in southwestern PA, there's wood lying everywhere. Most of it is wild cherry, which while it isn't oak, it seasons quickly, and burns well, with a fairly high BTU output. I hope everyone in areas like this will take advantage of this supply of free wood...

What is a good way to get into selling firewood on a small scale?

JimDad, here's how I did exactly that this year. I only got into it because a very bad storm came through our area back in early August, and left me with dozens of very large wild cherry down. If I don't cut them up, they'll dry rot away before I can use them all for heat. So I went onto my...

    log splitter hydraulic filter question

Hydraulic Filter Question GPSMAN, I've been doing hydraulic system maintenance on heavy equipment for 40 years, and what you need to do is put an in-tank screen in the tank ahead of the pump suction line, and then put the filter between the return port of your control valve, and the tank return...

    Fiskars Super splitting axe review

I've been using the MM exclusively for almost 30 years. I have one of the original orange ones made by a company in Cleveland, and it has never let me down. But Bushwaker is right, it does take its toll, especially now that I'm officially a senior citizen!! The MM design is great, but I've...
