I didn't bother to find the thread right now but I remember after everyone commented the guy said he was going to throw it out because he was too nervous to try it. Well tonight I said screw it and tried...

    Wood Furnace Newbie Questions

I have a wood furnace I installed in my basement somewhere around November 2006 if I remember correctly. Been using it every year since. As for your damper question I can't help you with that without a picture of your setup so I know exactly what we're looking at. As for the limist switch I...

And you guys laugh at the HVBW!

Just saw this article on Google. Apparently the police value one tree at over $100k and jail time! https://www.cleveland.com/metro/2022/01/duo-charged-in-theft-of-28000-black-walnut-tree-one-of-states-largest-from-metroparks-in-strongsville.html?outputType=amp

    Bigger Blower on Hotblast

Mine is not a hotblast but is basically the same thing. It's a Johnson energy systems. I put a regular size furnace blower on mine as well. I have to run mine on the lowest speed and even at that I had to put a screw in each air duct out the top because they wanted to blow off. I run the...

What to do about persistent poachers?

So I just read the whole thread and as soon as I read snowmobile trail going through your property I thought of a possible non-violent solution. I am a partial owner of 150 acres of hunting property in upstate NY where we have a hunting cabin and a couple buildings located on one corner of the...

So what do you do when....

He must be using the "new" math that they are teaching my kids in school that I just can't wrap my head around! When I was in school the correct answer would have been, "what is twelve Alex."

    Home made fire starter sticks

I get all the kindling I can handle from the high school woodshop. A bit of newspaper and a couple handfuls of there kiln dried scraps make great fire starters.

    Firewood price

The only time in 15 yrs I paid for firewood for my house was when I was going to be cutting it close on having enough for the next winter. I found a guy just a couple miles away that had his woods logged a year earlier. It was all red oak and he was selling it for $20 a pickup load. Being I...

Issues w/Putting stove in the middle of high ceiling room?

Second the ceiling fan idea. Have a friend with a camp with cathedral ceilings and walkway up top to get to bedrooms. With fans on not much temp difference between upstairs and down. Turn off fans and it is hotter than heck up top and cold sitting on the couch across from the stove.

    Scrounging Firewood (and other stuff)

I never tried it when warm, only cold. Now I might have to try it when warm, when I'm in no hurry whatsoever, just in case!

    Scrounging Firewood (and other stuff)

Forgot to add that 1 or 2 or as many as 5 or 6 hard pulls still beats the heck of 100 plus easy pulls!

    Scrounging Firewood (and other stuff)

Yes they do. I bought mine new in 2012 and actually took it back to the dealer a couple weeks later after it refused to start for about the 10th time and I sent it flying through the woods a couple of times when I couldn't take it anymore. One time I counted over 100 pulls before it finally...

    Scrounging Firewood (and other stuff)

On another note, in these parts of the country they are all called campers on a normal basis. The only time anyone gets technical is if they want you to know specifically what type they are talking about.
