Will an MS660 top end bolt straight onto an MS440?

A "bigbore" (52mm) 044 AM cylinder is another possibility. No machine work required, but you may want to port it to make its full potential.

Uneven Piston Wear on MS 660

Looks like lean to me, lack of oil likely would have damaged intake side, too. Besides, piston crown looks to have been very hot on exhaust side.

    Stihl 045AV questions

If the handlebar frame is genuine to the saw, you have points ignition. Ring sets (and also piston kits) are available AM or NOS.

    Stihl 056 problem

You don`t have to hold the trottle open at all, as it will pull in air by exhaust port. You do have to pull several times to get a correct read, though. 140-160 psi would be OK.

    Port time area

Since we are on a chainsaw forum, I assume you are talking about industrial type 2 strokes with box type exhaust. Well, as far as I know, Jennings never worked on, or wrote about this engine type, but rather only piped bike engines. He has not the best reputation among bike tuners, either, so I...

    Dolmar/Makita 5000 upgraded to the 5030

No idea, but his signature says Makita 5030 wanted, doesn`t it? Just an example on price and availability overseas.

You can still buy the DCS 5030 from UK. Cost 752 dollars + 85 dollars shipped to USA.

    Stihl 051 / 075 Evaluation by a Rookie

You really need to clean it up before you dismantle it any more, and block off those ports before you start cleaning it! :msp_wink: From the pics, it doesn`t look scored, so you may get away with a ring set, but the plating may also be worn out because of fine dust entering the cylinder throu...

    Mastermind Meets The Stihl 088

Anything wrong with that? I prefer an electronic equivalent, though, but do you really think a seriouse port job starts cylinder in vise and carbide cutter in hand?

Aftermarket slugs and jugs nmurph please respond?

They are comparatively heavy and can work loose easily as a turning pin can turn them in the grove. IMO tailed wire circlips are also useless as the pin can wear on the tails till they break off. Only thing to use are tailless wire circlips. I cut the tails off tailed ones, if I don`t have any...

MS440/460 Hybrid With Ported Meteor Cylinder Kit

Nobody in their right minds have ever doubted that affordable aftermarket parts benefit the chainsaw users world wide! Have you heard of any? :D :taped:

    MS 660 Meteor Port Timing

Sure you can improve it by lowering the jug and widening the transfers. When lowered, the exhaust port can be slightly widened as it is narrow as is. Ideally all port time/areas should be calculated and matched to desired BMEP before any porting, but improvements can be made if you go in the...

opinions on .404 vs. .375 chain

I use Stihl RMH in .063, but Oregon and others make it too for now. Harvester bar mounts; Stihl 3080 and 3070, Oregon FL104 , FL114 and FM104 can very easily be adapted to Stihl 3002 and also to 3003 with a little more work.

    BTW .404 isn`t really .404 either, it`s .4055 :msp_biggrin:

    Which ported 50cc saw

I just got back an 031AVEQ I gave away some 15 years ago. After some thought, I decided I will make a 346 killer out of it. :hmm3grin2orange:

    Porting a Poulan 25da

Not knowing the dimensions, this is qualified guessing, but my money is on that the carbon fibre petals will be too stiff for the application.
