Yeah, hard to tell from pics even though these are very good pics. Nothing like wood ID's to get us going.

Yup... It's winter / we're bored...

The bark looks like ASH to me. Straight grain, medium growth ring density. Also seems to be EAB damage in the exposed areas.

If the rounds are heavy Its Oak if their light its Ash. Also if it smells like wine its in the Red Oak family.

I'm in full agreement. The rounds are too short to cut into planks. It still looks like oak to me, but I'm no expert.
