Greetings again from Japan.

I have an old Husqvarna 185CD, I'm in the process of refreshing it once again, I Don't use it often, but when I do I need it, as it is the saw I run on my mill.

I'd not run it in about five years and unfortunately when it was last run, a friend borrowed it, this friend knows chainsaws and when I checked the fuel tank it was empty, I asked him if he had run it empty and he said he had dumped out the fuel and then ran it a min to clear any fuel in the carb etc. I don't think this worked, as the fuel line was like jelly, and I think I'm going to have to rebuild the carb again too.

Yep, that is not going to work is it, new fuel line on order.

When I had the chain and bar off, I thought I'd check the oil pump, to see how it was doing and also to make sure it was set on the Max oil configuration, it was. To check this I had to take off the drive sprocket, or it is a drive drum? It's all one big (Expensive?) piece, not just a small sprocket

It sure does look worn, not going to be wanting to put a new chain on that if I can help it.

While I was cleaning this item, I heard something drop and hit the bench top, uh-oh

Yep, trouble.....

Now way around it, I need a new one of these drive sprocket drum units.

The Husqvarna 185CD IPL lists the number as "501 54 02-01" the 3/8" x 8 option. When I search for this part in Baileys I get nothing. I'm wondering if the part has been replaced, upgraded or what?

If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it, I've got a large order ready to go to Baileys but if I cannot get this part, then what's the point of ordering a new chain and bar?

Cheers!

Look at the IPLs for the 1100, 185, 2100 and 285 on the US Husky site, there has to be a rim and drum option that fits.

that part has gotta be NLA. Oregon with a replacable rim is an option. the 285 shares the same clutch drum and sprocket with the 2100 so I would assume that one would too. not saying for sure though as I have never seen a 185. looks to be the same fuel line as a 2100 also. I would also look into whether or not the 2100 worm gear for the oiler would fit also because the little nubs to drive the worm gear on that clutch drum look different :msp_wink:

Thanks for the replies guys!

The part number for the clutch drum and sprocket assembly are the same on the 2100 and the 185.
I'm hoping to hear back from Husqvarna about a new part number.

I'll keep looking, thanks!

The 185 and the 2100 actually came out at the same time, a few years after the 1100. They likely used up some surplus 1100 parts, when making the 185 (just an assumption, not a fact). :msp_wink:
As I remember it, the 185 was replaced by the 285 after just a couple of years.

This is becoming a real treasure hunt!

I found this page....

http://www.baileysonline.com/itemdetail.asp?item=ORF+28094X&catID=

Now the item has a picture, and if the drum is like the picture, it will not work, but maybe they just put up a generic picture?
Says in the description that it fits the 185 285 1100 2100 etc, so maybe this is the part I need?

I'll have to ask I guess:smile2:

Ask Grande Dog, he is an AS member, that runs the Baileys forum in the sponsors section.
